Best-Selling Author Kirsty Moseley - "A dark, twisted romance with a thrilling hook that keeps you on the edge of your seat"

Best- Selling Author Jane Harvey Berrick - "Dark, delicious, terrifying and rewarding. A study in horror that kept me up late into the night as I became desperate to find out how on earth this seductive tale of good and evil would end. Amazing."

Eye Candy bookstore- "Wow what an intense story. You are gripped from beginning to end. I love how Ker evokes all kinds of emotions in one book"

Just another book bitch blog- "I was a prisoner to the pages of this book, needing and wanting more"

From the Author

The characters from Empathy began talking to me a long time ago. I let them manifest until I couldn't not write their story. Empathy has always intrigued me. I have a family member that appeared to lack empathy not to the degree of these characters but it's a scary thought, that people around us can be so...empty.

I'm not sure how to begin my review about this book but the first word that comes to my mind would be Mind-blowing! That is what this book by author Ker Dukey is to me. Just Mind-blowing....

Empathy the word is defined as" the ability to understand and share the feelings of another" This is not the case for Blake the main male character in this book because by day Blake is a young police detective and by night a paid killer. Next to Blake is his very dark young brother Ryan who is dealing with his own issues and dark demons that haunt him. Both brothers have grown up in a very mess up household were their parents are dead or strung out on drugs. It was Blake who raises Ryan only as years later has had to learn to turn a blind eye to Ryan's rather strange and morbid sexual appetite. For in his past Blake has never known what it is to have feelings or feel for anything or anybody and has had no Empathy until Melody.....

Melody's life is the opposite of what Blake and Ryan have lived with. Melody comes from a loving home and wants to make a difference in her life. Melody meets Ryan in college in a class together and they are paired together to work on a project. That's short lived because as Melody is summoned to return home by her mother for a family meeting. While on her way to leave to go back home Melody crashed into Blake by accident. Blake has some choice words for Melody begin clumsy and there you go...Blake has no idea what is waiting ahead for him. Nor will Melody when she returns home only to find a nightmare waiting for her.

When Ryan takes Melody home one night it is there that Blake feels like he has seen Melody before but where? Melody must learn to live knowing that her life will never be the same again.

This is an author who will eventually get a 5 star read. The antihero is way more intriguing than the hero, the heroine has her bad moments, and well, an editor would fix that in a heart beat. I will continue to read this author.

Empathy is another 5* read from Ker Dukey.

I was gripped from the very beginning, Empathy tells a twisted tale, of lost souls, love and deep betrayal.

Melody, Blake & Ryan are the three main characters that will have you falling in love, screaming, punching and crying with them.

Empathy is a deep, dark story that will leave you breathless wondering what the hell just happened and what it is you've just read !

No spoilers from me ~ If you love a slightly dark, twisted, sexy read that has so many twists & turns you feel like you've been to the fair, then Empathy is a must read for you.

I did enjoy this. I do like a darker kind of read, a darker kind of hero, and after reading the sample, I couldn't help but click the buy button. I thought the story read well, it kept moving along, and it took me right with it. The pacing was quick, maybe sometimes too quick, and the story kept my attention. The hero was dark and interesting. His brother even more so. There is much here to like, but there are also a few things that could have been developed more.

The character Melody just didn't seem deep enough. Maybe she was overshadowed by Blake and Ryan. They were both so dark and complicated and so completely screwed up. I give the author credit for writing such characters that are both compelling and repulsive at the same time.

Melody didn't seem as strong, not as cleverly written. I thought her actions and reactions didn't make sense at times. She'd be appropriately angry one moment, but then the next, still with very good reason to be upset, she does nothing, says nothing; no retaliation, not even a WTF? She was too convenient, really a means to an end, and I wanted her to be more than that. I wanted her to be smarter, stronger.

Also, the romance angle could have been developed more. Obviously, it's dark and weird and twisted, maybe more obsession than love, but it is there and it would have been nice to see more of that on the page. I wanted more time in Blake's POV to see how he was changing and feeling. The why and the how of it. More time could have been taken with that.

I thought the climax was rushed but good, and the epilogue was a disturbing and fitting end cap for this story. All in all, I thought EMPATHY was a solid read with some nice darkness to it. Never read this author before, and I like how she thinks. She certainly can write the mind of a twisted, damaged individual.

There are some books you feel honored to read before they're released to the readers. I have to say that Empathy is definitely one of them. This book had the perfect combination of dark and light that the words and story just flowed through the pages. Ker Dukey did an excellent job of bringing us a male lead you love to hate and a female lead you wish you could trade places with.

Blake and Melody were great characters. Both strong with personality and they had such a great chemistry together. Their attraction and feelings for each other were tangible to me as the reader. I felt like I was in their shoes. I felt their sadness and most of all...I felt their L♥VE for each other. Blake leads a life of no feeling. Living life one way and a secret life the other. Until he sees Melody. A quick glimpse at her strength affects him in ways he couldn't have imagined. Together they explore this attraction and have plenty of HOT steamy moments spent exploring each others' bodies.

For the readers out there, I have to say...once you think you know where this story is headed, you're surprised with a WTF moment. Blake and Melody not only enjoy their time together, but there's a point where suffering seems all consuming for them.

Empathy had me hooked from the very first word and I couldn't put it down until I finished. Empathy is most definitely one of those books you neglect work, cooking and cleaning for. I'm such a fan of Ker Dukey and each one of her new releases becomes a new favorite.
