There are plenty of surprises and twists, heartbreaking defeats and hard-won victories, as the journey of Penitent Hank Evans unfolds. After escaping his fate and the city of Necropolis, Hank sets out to learn the secrets of the so-called Christian Empire and its ruthless leader. He will be aided by the resistance that has grown up seeking the destruction of the cult that has stolen control of the country. But there's another element to Hank's quest, as Caesar has made his son Toby a pawn in the plan to control Hank and use him to defeat the resistance.
Full of compelling commentary on both religion and politics (and the unwise marriage of the two) this trilogy is an excellent read for anyone who's a fan of horror, or just plain good story-telling!
