Empire starts in such a dramatic and sad fashion and goes into high impact mode. I was immediately drawn into the energy of this story and of the final play of all the characters from the previous books. The Diamond family has suffered a loss and they are about to show the world how they avenge that loss. I will tell you that in this book, we see Roan and Calla featured as they grow into their roles due to the loss that impacted the family. We get to see their POV and let me tell you, there is some great action scenes and some beautiful and emotional parts that left me in tears. It is beautiful what Kathy did when writing this series and I only hope we get their childrens’ stories someday in the future…the immediate future. This is a story of love and loss, of strength and of pain and how one copes with that loss and triumphs with that loss and comes out on top. The Diamond family is stronger after surviving and I , for one, will miss them but am so glad that I got to read their stories.
My rating: 4.5 stars ****
"I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review***
Sacrifices are made to protect the ones they love, their family, their Empire! I loved that Kathy Coopmans portrayed the emotional roller coasters that exist in family dynamics from understanding that loved ones are doing what needs to be done yet struggling with it at the same time.
I especially loved how she depicted Calla's story in this book. To me it was a comparison to every working woman who tries to find a balance that both she and her family can live with and thrive with a fierceness and sense of independence that she deserves to show while still being a woman, wife & mother - wanting and needing tenderness without being accused of being weak!
The previous books in this series had a couple that was the main characters of the story. But this book was like a smorgasbord of hotness - especially Roan and Cain - O.M.G. I loved their dominant dirty talking ways.

Amazon won't let me post them because they're so HOT .. if you want to read them, be sure to check out my review on my blog.
This series had me captivated to the very end. I fell in love with the characters with all their flaws and imperfections that made them unique in their own right. Kudos to Kathy Coopmans for this amazing series where even the bad guys deserve to find love and will fight with all that they are to keep their love alive!
>I am an independent reviewer. This book is the 5th in the Syndicate Series and ends in an HEA. This book is different from the previous books because the characters are all paired up. This story is about their love for each other and what they are all willing to do for their family. When Roan’s father is murdered, everyone is on edge. Roan and Calla step up to take over. One of the first things they do is enact revenge on the murderer.
>Calla and Cain are tested the most with Calla going undercover. The strain on all the growing families is really present. This book had a lot of inner dialogue and not a lot of action. A few quick scenes of action are interspersed between a lot of soul searching from all of the characters, especially Roan and Calla. As a result of all of this dialogue, the book plodded along.
>This book is appropriate for an adult audience. I am giving the story 4 stars. There was just too much inner monologue to keep the pace going.
Love the two POVs between Roan and Calla. Makes the story much more interesting knowing what's going on all around the book. So the story is about family meaning blood family and Mafia family. Family who sticks together through thick and thin. The women of the series go through just as much hell as the men do a day are tough as nails and suck it up. This series has it all sex, marriage, romance, heartbreak, murder, babies. I would recommend it and give it more stars if I could. Book one is Wrath of Cain. Grab it up then read your way through. You won't be disappointed 😍😆👫👪💑💣🔫🗡
