I was on a hunt primarily to use this to cook rib eye steaks at about 1.5" thick, and at a high temperature.
This skillet has reached 600 degrees in my BBQ, and then transferred to the side burner over a low heat. In testing the skillet remained a little higher than 500 degrees through the steak sear (around 4 minutes) with the burner. After that the steak was turned over and placed back in the grill for the next 4 minutes or so. I am very happy with the cooking performance at this price point, and cannot imaging a better performance done by anything higher priced.
The enamel seemed to be intact well, however it is discolored from the heat. I would not expect the enamel to stay the same bright red on any skillet with these types of temperatures, however I do expect the enamel to stay intact and not crack, peel or chip - and this skillet handled it just fine.
Cleanup is pretty easy afterwards, a light soap and some warm water, followed by a light coat of oil till its next use.
