About the Author
Marc is a South African-born author who lives and works in Ethiopia with his wife and 4 children, 2 dogs, a rabbit, and a variable number of marabou storks that roost on the acacia trees out back. When he’s not writing about Africa Marc can be found travelling to remote locations. He thinks there’s nothing better than standing on a mountaintop wondering what lies over the next horizon. Thank you also BookReads and Amazon. This never would have come into my line of reading without your advertising, free and cheap books, and excellent service and quality. Keep them coming.
Elements to the setup reminded me a little of [book:Wild Magic|13836], by Tamora Pierce, one of my wife's favorites. Certainly, characters with an empathy for animals will enjoy it. I wish that the magic would have been delved into a little deeper though, or come with more of a struggle, and more solid roots.
It was well written and edited, and the illustrations definitely added something. It may not be a book you'd read on your own, but it's definitely a book you'll read with your child.
