Format: Hardcover
One way of reading this excellent book is to take it to establish what Wittgenstein meant when he said his book had an ethical point.

Denis McManus offers sustained and convincing argumentation, and wonderful comparisons, among other things.

I found his account of the Tractarian use of its own central terms, such as "object", "fact", "proposition" and so on, to be immensely helpful in my attempt to understand Wittgenstein.

I also found his comparison of Wittgenstein with an ethical strain in the writings of Kant to be enlightening.

His comparison of the ethics of the Tractatus with ethical concerns in the writings of British humorist Jerome K. Jerome was truly funny, in the highest and best sense of those terms.

This is a great read, convincing, and, for my slim budget, entirely worth the cover price.
