1. First day: Ordered, downloaded, received activation code, entered, played games.
2. Second day: Clicked to play games, received message to enter activation code-????, but entered code. Received message: " Connection to checkpoint Server has Failed"
--Called Amazon. Customer rep nice, but couldn't help. Gave me #1-800-395-0277 for Encore.
--Called Encore. Customer rep useless, aggravating, clueless. blamed Amazon.
--Reinstalled game, hoping that it help. Didn't. Got an "access code" and another Enter activation. Another message about server fail.
--Called Amazon. Customer rep nice, entered refund immediately. When asked if the same problem with activation code would happen, he advised that disk has different process, and that downloadable do have more problems.
--Ordered the disk, but I can tell you that if I didn't prefer Hoyle games, I WOULD NOT ORDER ANOTHER SINGLE THING FROM ENCORE. DO NOT COUNT ON ENCORE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Are you as tired as I am of companies not backing up their products and/or trying to help customers when there is a problem? Really glad I ordered the download from Amazon for their customer reps. BigFish has excellent customer service, too.
--Here's hoping there's no further problems

Can't open and can't get a refund

I should have read the reveiews before purchasing the download. I have Hoyle on an old computer and since my new computer doesn't have a disk drive I ordered the download from Amazon. Well of course I checked the system and memory requirements before hitting the pay button and it appeared to download ok. When I went to open the product it gave an error informing me that vendor couldn't be reached and that the product code wasn't valid and to contact thier customer service with a code. So I contacted them and was sent an email saying that they no longer support the software and that I had to get a refund from Amazon, who won't provide a refund. It's like catch 22 except that all I got was a non-functioning download for $10.37, when you add in the tax. Well, all I can say is that after reading so many negative comments about this product I am shocked and disappointed that Amazon still allows it to be listed on its sites. Or am I missing something here?

I had similar problems with the download as reported by other reviewers, however, the Encore website has a solution. I'm not sure its a great solution, but it does work and I can play the games. After you click on the short cut, a user account box opens and asks if you want to allow the program to modify the computer. If you select yes, the game opens, if you select no, the box closes and the game does not open.

I confess a preferance for Rummy 500, but it is loaded with just about every card game imaginable! I play this all the time--I prefer turn-based games like this, as opposed to the more chic internet games. The game designers seem to miss the fact that one only plays computer games if there's nobody else available to play with--and then, we go to a game store to sit down at a table with our friends, roll dice, and move miniatures. Playing games on a computer is NOT "socializing" with your friends! Sharing banter and eating pizzas you all chip in for IS! (Then again, that may just be my generation who grew up in the 70's to 80's...the Internet is the death of Mankind as we know it! I recall with relish computers that were the exclusive realm of us "geeks"--because your average Joe couldn't figure out how to program the things! Windows took away all of that. I confess, that I miss it! If someone couldn't be bothered to learn simple commands such as "Load" and "Run," much less program his or her own game programs in BASIC or Hexadecimal, they shouldn't have been provided with training wheels!) Those of us who were serious about computers in High School took Computers--and we weren't allowed to do that until we'd passed Algebra, to prove we understood the logic of programming. Ah, the good ol' days...I really miss them!

Buyer beware! Software bad & Encore won't support!

I will start by saying that Amazon was great - they refunded my money when the software wouldn't work. Encore, on the other hand, is terrible. Amazon first told me that the problem with the Key had to be taken to Encore. Encore sent me an email that stated (and I'm copy/pasting): "Sorry for that Encore stopped supporting the Hoyle Games.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused."
What??!! There are Hoyle games all over Amazon from Encore, and they stopped supporting Hoyle games????
Amazon, please get rid of anything "Hoyle" by "Encore". But thank you for backing me up on the purchase.
I will never, ever, by anything that has the Encore name on it. Oh, and the support engineer gave me a link below his name to both Encore and Broderbund, so I guess Broderbund is down there with Encore. If you are not going to support your software, especially to make it work right out of the gate, then stop selling it!

It might not work, it didn't for me

I think I'm getting Covid crazy. Social distancing is taking its toll on me and I thought that this card game might provide some relief. My former Hoyle card game had characters that chatted throughout the game and I found it humorous, silly and enjoyable. This version had characters too so I thought I'd give it a try. Unfortunately, The game wouldn't run/execute on my computer. I spent a good hour on line with a customer service person to get it going but to no avail. I may or may not get a refund (he requested one on my behalf) but this is a no refund item so we will see what happens. A perusal of the reviews indicated that I am not the only person who has had similar problems. When making the decision to purchase this game, ask yourself...can I afford to possible waste this money.

I did not dislike the product but I was unable to download it because of technical difficulties with Windows 10. I did call the company and they were totally helpful and sent me a disk the could be intsstalled with no extra charge. I was totally satisfied with the outcome.
