Estelle Rogers, a washed-up actress, returns to Oak Knoll,Oregon, to find refuge with one of the few friends she has left. Little does she know that Helen Wood has ulterior motives involving Estelle and Helen's handyman Blake Price,who runs the local summer children's theater.
First off,I was captivated by the ambience of the small coastal town, and the beauty of the area. Then I was snared by the sweet, yet faith-impacting romance that took a few surprising turns. I also loved how Estelle and Kayla worked together and developed such an amazing friendship considering their background. Another reason to love the book was the interactions of Estelle and Blake with the children and parents of the theater.
" He understood the Lord had healing for him, and it was up to him to receive that healing."
It all adds up to time very pleasantly spent with two more seeking hearts by Kimberly Rose Johnson. As soon as Ms. Johnson brings Estelle and Blake's story to a satisfying resolution, she gives us a small taste of her next novel. I will be anxiously waiting!
Estelle, who bonded so easily with children, and was learning how to not be so self-centered, but to treat others with kindness and respect;
Blake, who didn’t know how to let go of his feelings of guilt and blaming himself, and wasn’t able to go forward and enjoy life;
and my favorite, Helen, who was a kind, wise, encouraging, and a Godly friend to both Estelle and Blake.
This author’s stories are clean, wholesome, uplifting, heartwarming, and so easy to read! I can’t wait to read more in this series!! I beta-read this book, reread it a couple of months later, and couldn’t wait to leave my own free honest review. I highly recommend not only this book, and this series, but this author to anyone who enjoys inspirational contemporary romance.
From the beginnings of a production to the problems of stage moms. It was a pure delight.
The book is a sweet story of two people striving to do what is right and help others. It has light hearted humor, a bit of intrigue, and sweet romance.
With each struggle, these two came across they learned the lesson of trust and hope in God’s never-ending love.
Kimberly Rose Johnson has an endearing way of telling a story which will capture your heart.
I recommend you pick it up to read.
I loved watching Estelle and her growing faith plus her attraction to Blake
All the characters old and new, plus the unique storyline helped pull the story together.
I loved forward to the next book in the series.
An arc was given to me by the author. The opinions here are 100% my own.
We met Estelle Rogers in the first book, A Love Song for Kayla. Her character certainly was not one that I cared for and I don't think many of the characters in the first book did either. However, much has happened in the six years since Estelle left Oak Knoll, Oregon—where she gave her heart to Christ, thereby changing her life as she is learning to become the person God wants her to be. She has left acting behind for the love of cooking and opened her own restaurant in LA. At her friend, Helen's request, she takes a much needed break and returns to the one place that actually feels like “home”, Oak Knoll. Of course, Estelle has some misgivings about facing those she was not very nice to the last time she was in Oak Knoll. Will they forgive her and give her a second chance? What are God's plans for her, for she feels He is pulling her in a different direction than she has been on.
Just like Estelle, Blake Price has a past—a tragic past—he would like to keep in the past. But it haunts him at every turn and fills him with guilt, even though others tell him he is not to blame. He was hoping to find peace in Oak Knoll, and he had found that peace to some extend with the children's theater he opened. Then Estelle shows up shattering what little peace he had found. Why did the one woman he disliked so much show up here in Oak Knoll? And Helen is playing matchmaker with him and Estelle—no, that cannot happen! However, God may have other plans for them all—plans to heal broken hearts from long past tragedies and more, forgiveness and new beginnings. Will Estelle, Blake and even Helen allow God to guide them on the path He has for each of them or will they follow their own uncertain paths?
I really liked the changes in Estelle in this book. She has grown into a beautiful, godly woman who cares for others and lives her life in a way honoring God. I loved watching the interaction between Blake and Estelle as they danced around their growing feelings. Blake is a favorite as is Helen. The characters experience strong emotions which I felt right along with them. An Encore for Estelle is a fun, heartwarming story.
