Dylan gets talked into accompanying Tatum, Cyrus and Malcolm to a big 'vampire' soiree, thinking she's finally going to be getting some much needed girl time with her BFF. But as usual, in true Dylan fashion, she barely has both feet planted in New Orleans before she manages to piss off an extremely vengeful and powerful voodoo priestess. As if dealing with the 'vampires' all around her wasn't enough, now she has the added bonus of voodoo magic and curses to spice things up. Add in Dylan's trademark sarcasm, snarky and self-deprecating sense of humor, and all around bad-assitude, and you're in for another wild ride from RM Gilmore.
The author does such a superb job writing these characters, I feel emotionally invested in them in one way or another. I want to party with Dylan, I want to slap the snot out of Tatum, I want to lick Cyrus, I want to tell Mike to back off and chill out, and did I mention I want to lick Cyrus? Yum! This series just keeps getting better. I can't wait to see what's in store for us next.
I have to say, this book is amazing. I absolutely love Dylan. She is foul-mouthed and often reckless but she is also tenacious and strong despite her perceived imperfections. In this installment, we get to learn more about her background and it gives more depth to an already wonderful character. Dylan is real and gritty and I honestly cannot get enough. I am intrigued by the way Gilmore portrays a world that is so fantastical but also realistic at the same time. It creates a dynamic that is so unlike what you see in most paranormal books. Dylan doesn't swoon around the bloodsuckers like her blond bombshell of a friend. No, like any good skeptic, Dylan is always looking for the smoke and mirrors instead of just accepting that the impossible may be anything but. I look forward to finding out how her latest adventure impacts her outlook on the occult and I can't wait to see what kind of trouble she gets into next.
Once again she finds herself in a world of trouble, but completely out of her element and safety of her beloved LA. This time it's NOLA that awaits with it's mysteries, secrets, and angry voodoo priestess of course.
Anyone else would run scared but Dylan Hart is once again irreverent and in your face bitch! Her take no shit attitude along with her intelligence and willingness to rush head long in to any situation makes for awesome reading!
Great continuation of The Scene, can't wait for the next!

We learn more about Dylan’s relationship dynamic with Mike Peterson and also a little history of her deceased father. Set mostly in New Orleans we are thrown in a three day party with hot sexy Cyrus Atossa and his cryptic answers to everything!!!! (I got frustrated immensely with him lol). Dylan is her usual self and bang we have a new avenue for adventure with the voodoo taste to it!
Reading the relationship build between Cyrus and Dylan was a joy and seeing another side to him was fabulous.
At times the descriptions were freaky and damn nerve –racking so much so I jumped on to book 3 The Sacrifice as soon as I finished.
