It also speaks to Forder's maturation as a writer. Building upon the insights & experience of a police career, he seems more comfortable in letting the character 'speak', rather than adding more exploitative action. A simmering, a ripening of the Bliss series.
There is a decency in this, as Bliss comes to self-understanding on his terms, yet not abusing the people around him by ignoring or minimizing their intrinsic value, as people.
For the new reader: Start with the 1st book in the series. The methodical movement through each successive volume will be very satisfying, rewarding.
Molly is a great character who not only pulls on Bliss’s heart strings but the readers also. In fact, this is the main appeal for me in this book. The relationship between Bliss and Molly. You can see Molly getting further and further under Bliss’s skin whilst he is trying his best not to allow himself to care to much for this young girl who has been through a lot in her young life. There is a definite bond between the pair that grows as the story goes on. It makes for quite an emotional read at the end.
There is a fair amount of tension as Molly is under constant threat. This does somewhat blind side Bliss as he focuses on her safety. The working relationship between Bliss and Chandler yet again shines through and adds to this already compulsive crime thriller.
Endless Silent Scream allows us to get inside the main character’s head and show a different side to him. There is plenty going on and the author shows his strength with his characterisation. There is a certain vulnerability about Bliss that appeals to me, making me want more. This is a crime series that has been set at a high standard of which the author keeps delivering every time. Be warned, they are very addictive reads.
The characters are excellent, so well developed – Bliss is a brilliant character, I really liked reading about him before, but this book showed a different side to him for me and I have found myself liking him even more.
I loved the pace of the book too, it was definitely one that had me turning the pages and I read the book in an afternoon, and evening as I needed to know how it would all end.
This is the sixth book in the DI Bliss series and for me the books have just gone from strength to strength and I can’t wait to see what he releases next!
No hesitation at all in giving this one 5 stars – I loved every page – very highly recommended!!
I love Detective Bliss. He is a fantastic main character who is determined despite his flaws. I thought his dialogue was fantastic and we were really able to get to know him.
Fast-paced and addicting, I felt Tony J. Forder really understands how to keep us on the edge of our seat.
Great police procedural that I highly recommend!!
*I received a free copy of this book from BOTBS Publicity in exchange for an honest review on the blog tour. All opinions are my own and unbiased.*
Detective Bliss was brilliant. His one liners kept me going. There was a strong core of determination underneath the reckless glint that he carried, along with a chip on his shoulder.
The plot lines were taut and well strategized, the author knew how to keep the prose thrilling.
Overall, it was a fun police procedural, thanks to Bliss and his team.
ENDLESS SILENT SCREAM IS A MUST BE READ WINNER!

Mr Forder you have totally outdone yourself with this book 😱😱😱 it's absolutely brilliant and had me sitting on the edge of my seat, the twists and turns are amazing.
Love love love it, Bliss and his team just get better, although the ending was sad 😢 I was looking forward to Bliss having a happy ending, but I should have known better 😃 I think this one is definitely my favourite, just because there are so many different things happening, the excitement level is ramped up 😱 You have completely blown me away my special unicorn author🦄🦄 The cover totally fit's the book ❤❤
Molly and Bliss's relationship/friendship is amazballs, the emotional rollercoaster they went on together no wonder it blurred the lines for both of them. Part of me hoped that Bliss could adopt her, but then I got realistic and knew this couldn't happen, so cried when they got separated 😭😭 but it was for the best for Molly to have a better life, even though Bliss is a good man, his job dictates that he wouldn't make a good father and he isn't in a stable relationship so it just wouldn't work 😔
If you enjoy reading a good thriller with plenty of twists and turns, then this book and series will be right up your street. Tony J. Forder is a fantastic author that really brings the characters to life, this is why he is my unicorn author 🦄🦄💞💞 If you don't believe me, then read it for yourself, they are all standalone book's so you don't have to read book 1 to read this book, although I would recommend it ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐💞💞💞💞🦄🦄
Can't wait for the next one Mr Forder as you blew me away with this one 😘
There has always been a feeling that that the tough and slightly unconventional cop had a softer side and it turned up in Endless Silent Scream.
Coming into contact with the scrap of a girl who had experienced more in her few teenage years than anyone would wish on an adult, DI Bliss found his paternal side develop from that first rooftop meeting.
Along with the investigation into the murky side of young Molly's life, Bliss and his team also found themselves involved in a cold case murder of a freelance journalist. Both strands are gripping.
Bliss has been dealing with his own demons in the five previous books and he begins to come to terms with some in number six.
He still has a maverick way of solving his cases but he is a good DI and will always do whatever it takes to root out the bad guys.
While finally feeling he can move on in his private life he wants to embrace the future and suddenly with more than one option available to him he realises there is a choice.
I love Jimmy Bliss as a character, he just about keeps within police protocol to track down his villains but it's the coming close to limit that has me wondering if he'll blow it this time.
Maybe he is mellowing in his professional life as well as private, who knows. I can't wait for DI Bliss #7 to find out.
The characters surrounding Bliss have been slowly developed over the series, they are honest and believable individuals. I have developed a huge respect for Tony Forder’s story telling, his graphic scene setting and factual descriptions of Police procedures all add to the suspense and thrills of this latest D.I. Bliss detective novel. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
When DI Bliss leaves his coffee and muffin to deal with a crisis on a hotel roof, he has no idea that the young girl he finds there will change him forever. Bliss finds himself dealing with Social Services, the Drugs Squad and the rules and procedures that all police officer's are sworn to abide by. This does not sit well with a DI who, by and large, has followed his own rules throughout his career. He does, however, have his team to discuss his idea's with and this includes the lovely DS Penny Chandler. The interaction between the two of them is often very funny and as this book is dark at times, their comedy makes me chuckle.
The action is often fast and furious. A car chase involving armed police and a bunch of biker's mean's that, once again, Bliss uses his own car as a lethal weapon but, this time, as a means of escape. Storming a house with armed officer's is also a part of the story.
Bliss, has his world turned upside down by the girl on the hotel roof and at the end there are tears for him and Penny. Bliss is in a thoughtful mood when he decides on his next move. He has been alone for many years, is it possible for him to find that person to share his life with, at last?
I have loved the whole DI Bliss series and this book is a brilliant addition. I can highly recommend this series and the writer Tony Forder's other books to anyone not yet acquainted with them. I am not alone, Tony Forder has an army of fans who love everything he does. This begs the question, why, why, why has this awesome wordsmith not been snapped up by one of the large publishing houses?
This time, in Endless Silent Scream, you see a softer side to Bliss as he tries very hard to talk a young girl out of jumping from the roof of an hotel. Having discovered she’s a county lines drugs mule, Jimmy and the team have their work cut out trying to keep her alive, safe from the hands of drug dealers and a ruthless enforcer, who are trying to get her back.... to dispose of her?!
As usual, this is a fast-paced police procedural/crime thriller full of action, tender moments and the usual smattering of humour.
It can be read as a ‘stand-alone’, but to fully appreciate the brilliant writing and the wonderful characters, I suggest you start at the beginning of the series. To my mind, the series gets better and better with every book. The writing is so descriptive, you’ll think you’re at the scene with Bliss, Chandler and the team.
While you’re reading, don’t think you’ve worked out what’s going to happen or who's responsible for what, you’ll be wrong.
A 5* read .... highly recommended!!
