There are no compromises to your gaming experience if you have this. I don't have to tether up with a play and charge kit or constantly replace expensive batteries anymore; the charge has lasted me over 5 hours of gameplay on multiple occasions, and based on the charge indicator on the XBOX home screen, I suspect I could have gone many, many more hours. When I'm done, I plug it back in easily and securely and it's usually fully charged the next time I sit down to play.
As a quick rebuttal to some of the issues I've read about:
There is no bulging or compromising the controller due to poorly designed battery.
There is no fiddling with the controller to line it up so that it actually charges. This could mean I have a superhuman ability to line it up perfectly every time, but I really doubt it.
Lastly, and most importantly, the battery packs haven't bricked my controller!
Again, I've had it a week. I will update in case the batteries drastically lose capacity after a month or so, as in some reports.
This dock is easy to setup; simply slap in the provided battery packs, and the controllers will snap into position on the dock. The slots are a transparent plastic which glow green or red to indicate if the controller is charged or charging (respectively). My only problem with the dock is that after a while, the controllers begin to sag in their slots and no longer make perfect contact with the dock. I've had this station for little less than 4 months and the top slot is already beginning to sag, and I use my XboxOne very infrequently.
If I were to purchase again, I'd probably go with the BD&A charging station because it works with gravity, instead of against it, to hold the controllers in place. I have something similar to the BD&A station for my PS4, a PowerA charging station, and I prefer that charging station's engineering solution.
I'd say so far he's used the remote a total of 8 hours and it's still halfway charged. We love that he can use one remote while the other is charging. It doesn't take up a lot of room. They are easy to set on the charger, and once they're set on, they don't fall off. The charger itself has lights to let you know if it's charging or if it's at full charge.
I read reviews of some other products like this that start on fire or melt, and there are no such worries with this one!!! Definitely worth the money.
This is a design flaw. But it can be tolerated. Otherwise it works just fine - I just wish you could buy extra batteries without purchasing a second charging deck - since we have only three controllers.
If I had to purchase it again, I'd get a different brand.
