The Lightest and Longest batteries for serious outdoor use
on August 4, 2017
One set of these batteries is lighter than a set of standard batteries of the same size and lasts much longer. That makes the price easier to swallow, because it "sort of" evens out. I wouldn't carry these on a standard weekend camping trip, or for anything around town, but for serious backcountry trips, these are a must have.
One caution: These will go from reading "full charge" to "empty" very quickly. I use them in my Garmin GPS, and I rarely notice anything between a reading of "full charge" and "warning, out of power, shutting down". That's fine, but you do need to be aware of it, especially if you are using an electronic device that monitors the charge. "Always carry a spare set" is even more important with these batteries than with standard batteries.
