The ZW3k 3-Way Control Add-On Switch is designed to work with a Z-Wave wall switch (ZW15S) or Z-Wave dimmer switch (ZW500D) for multi-location control. Control one light or fan from two or more locations, such as the opposite ends of a staircase, hallway, or multi-entrance room. This wireless auxiliary smart switch is not Z-Wave enabled, but it allows you to control other Z-Wave devices from multiple locations when connected with Enerwave Z-Wave switches and dimmers. This add-on switch works with all types of lighting (LED, CFL, incandescent, and halogen), fans, and other appliances. Three interchangeable face covers (white-attached, light almond, black) are included for easy color changes. Use this ZW3K 3-Way Auxiliary Switch as part of your home automation lighting control system to reduce energy consumption and provide more convenience to you and your family.

When the switches are used as three way switches, they require a 'traveller' wire from the second switch. A minor annoyance, because the whole idea of Zwave is that the system is supposed to be controlled wirelessly.
Two of the three (both of them wired as three way switches) keep disappearing from the zwave network. It requires that the switch be excluded and deleted from all SmartApps and from Alexa, then they need to be rediscovered and added to the SmartApps and to Alexa again. Then, two or three days later, one or both of the dimmers disappear again, and the entire process needs to be repeated. This has happened four times in the month since I have installed them.
EDITED TO ADD: The switches continue to disappear from the network. 3 of the 4 switches I have keep failing. I have, at factory request, returned two of them to the factory for analysis. They are claiming that the fault is a combination of the switch and my Smartthings hub. I'm not sure about that, because the switches in my system that are made by GE don't have this problem. Enerwave is going to send me a new, improve version of this switch to see if that fixes the issue, but I am not sure it will.
Avoid the issues and buy the GE dimmers.
The first thing you will discover is that the instructions are worthless. A quick google search will help you so this is not insurmountable.
From your google search you will learn that the outlet needs to be VERY close to the hub to connect. OK .. I connected a cheater cord to the outlet and got it set up. I set up the timing program and let it run a few days and all was well.
I then installed it where it was needed. A few weeks later it was randomly turning itself on and off. I reran a zwave repair (smartthings) and noted that it would no longer mesh or connect.
Now my choice was to remove the outlet from its box and redo the cheater cord setup again or move my hub close to the outlet and use a wifi extender. Either option is a pain in the butt.
I will reset it and update this report if it disconnects again but for the aggravation I will not give it more stars. This may end up being my first throw away smart home item.
Should have paid a bit more on Amazon and had a 30 return window.
The included instructions were clear, and it appeared to fit in my outlet box better than the GE switches I had previously used. It paired with my SmartThings Hub without any issue, and I haven't had any issues with it disconnecting or showing an unknown state.
It has a soft blue LED light that isn't too bright like I've found some "smart" outlets lights to be. It's a rather warm blue and very helpful to find the switch when it's dark. If you don't like it, you can switch it to "Lit When On", or "Never Lit". I chose to leave it set at "Light When Off".
It does require a neutral or common, so make sure you have that before you order. It's typically the white bundle in the back of the outlet box. Neutral is not the same as ground, which it also requires. From my electrical knowledge, smart switches that require neutrals are the ones that will work with LED lights. Although I haven't swapped out the lights in my fixture to LEDs yet, I wanted to make sure that when I do my switch is going to work still which is part of the reason I went with this unit.
At the time of this writing, it appears as if White is no longer available. If they were, I'd buy more of them right now! This has been a great addition to my smart home!
I did receive this product at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review, but I'm hooked now and want to buy more!!!
