Great job.
I was watching a documentary of some sort, I think, and the author was among several who made comments throughout. I was intrigued by her comments so I Googled her to find she'd written this book.
The thrust of the book is to introduce the Christian believer (of which she is one) to the current world of New Testament scholarship and the issues and controversy surrounding it. I am quite aware of all of this but was struck by something I didn't know. I had never heard of "emergent" churches before. I'm now pleased to know of them. I enjoyed reading of her joy of perspective, many and vast. Thanks for the book . . . from a non-believer.

Not quite finished with this book yet but I already know that it's one of the best books "about" the Bible I've ever read. Honest about many of the issues many just avoid talking about or give some shallow explanation for, this book digs in. And yet, my Bible-based faith is stronger because of reading it. This book really helps me appreciate who Jesus, Paul, and the other writers were, how they lived, and how their faith motivated them.

Dr. Clark-Soles has done an outstanding job explaining different approaches to the interpretation of the Bible. As a lay person I was particularly interested in her explanation of the translation process and the development of the New Testament canon. Very understandable by a non-scholar like me.
