The Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant formulation has shown outstanding performance in testing that measures its ability to prevent corrosion within all cooling systems, including aluminum, copper, cast iron, steel, magnesium & solder. Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant has shown excellent performance in all of the AS D 5216 (Propylene Glycol Base Engine Coolant) tests. Ready to Use
Engine Ice Hi-Performance Coolant is pre-mixed with de-ionized water. The process of de-ionizing water eliminates all of the impurities that can do harm to your cooling system. Regardless if you are using tap, bottled, distilled, spring or R/O (reverse osmosis) waters, it can still contain minute particles of iron, magnesium, rust, lime and calcium. Many of these waters also contain chemicals, such as chlorine, fluorides and acids. Want proof? Take two different brands of distilled waters and perform your own taste test. They each taste different don’t they? If water were water, why would they be different? It’s because of the varying amounts of chemicals and minerals in these waters. These minerals and chemicals are what is the cause the scarring, scaling and mineral build-ups in your cooling system. Many also attribute these minerals and chemicals to water pump seal and gasket failures.
Formulated with Propylene Glycol
As compared to the ethylene glycol used in most other brands, propylene glycol is far less toxic and safer for children, pets, and wildlife. Changing/flushing the radiator fluid on this bike is a pain. It's not hard, just a pain taking the fuel tank off, puttintg it back on to bring the distilled water vinegar mixture up to temp then repeating two more times but what he heck... Kawasaki dealer charges a premium for something most guys can do.
Long story short... spend the money, do the work. This stuff is cool... literally.
one car had the factory G12/water mixed and the other one distilled water plus water wetter (red line).
on practices and qualification we were always hitting the water temp alarm (115 degres C). the DATA even showed 117, 118 on the G12 equipped car.
before the race, we purged the whole water circuit and went with 12 liters of pure engine ice, both cars never passed 107 degres C during the entire race, thru traffic sometime with no clean fresh air to cool down the rads...
Since thenAs a racing professional, I'm using Engine Ice on all my engines now, with full confidence that it would cool down as much as the cooling system can.
Edit: 10/16/17. After riding my 2013 FZ1 most of the season I am not the least bit impressed with this coolant over the factory supplied coolant. I ran the bike from brand new fresh out of the crate for 3 years and did not notice a bit of difference in engine temps, then flushed and added Engine Ice with absolutely no noticeable difference this year. No doubt this is a good product, but for my application i did not notice any difference. Doubt i will spend this kind of money in the future.
I ordered this because ZX14's tend to run hot (floating around 200 - 207 degrees F) and the fan constantly kicks on. I have noticed, after changing the coolant out for Engine Ice, that it has hit 210 and 212 degrees F on more than one occasion. So, I am not seeing a reduction in operating temperature as claimed. Shipping was quick. Price per performance seems to be lacking. Maybe I will try distilled water + Water Wetter next time.
One thing you will notice, is the product does collect heat more efficiently/faster so you will notice rapid climbing of coolant temps. On the other coin, once the fan kicks on it will dissipate that heat considerably faster than conventional.
