I would say it DOES have everything there is to do in New England. Someone else said they didn't like the trips but I just ignored the recommended trips and read the whole book, picking out the bits that sounded interesting and cobbled it together from there.
There was a good mix of stuff and I loved the Quirky section. We did quite a few things out of that section for each State. And they were fun and interesting. It's hard to go past a LP for sheer quality of things to see. They DO pick out the decent stuff generally and the interesting.
We used this book in Spring/Summer and it was good for that, as well as it would be for Fall I would imagine. New England is relatively small, so don't get hung up on their trip ideas, although some of them are good. Very up to date too.
It did not have much on the Vermont sugar houses... but... as we found out - they are not THAT exciting, and I love that sort of stuff - so any they do mention, are worth it.
Overall, a great road guide. I would highly recommend this book.
Prefer more on landmarks, less on lodging.
