Where do I start with Enjoy Your Stay, it's one of my most anticipated reads of 2014, see I loved Welcome To Sugartown, I absolutely adored every single second of it from Ana's sweet and sassy side, to her bestfriend Holly and her tell it how she see's it attitude to Elijah Cade's dirty mouth and protective alpha tendencies. So EYS was always going to have some big expectations to go with it, and Carmen Jenner didn't just deliver, she hit it right out of the park.
Enjoy Your Stay picks up not long after where WTS left off, Ana, Elijah, Holly and Jackson are sharing a home, they are a family, Holly is pregnant by her ex Cooper and still hasn't told him, he left her when he gave her the ultimatum that it was either him or Ana and Holly made her choice, and as heart broken as she was, she is doing the best with her situation.
Jackson Rowe, Ana's cousin and an ex fling of Holly's has situated himself firmly into Holly's life, he is just as distracting as he's always been, but now add to the mix pregnancy hormones and Holly can't seem to stay away.
I found Enjoy Your Stay a lot lighter read then Welcome To Sugartown, there is still drama, and plenty of heart stopping moments but it wasn't soul crushing the way WTS was, there were moments of downright pandemonium and moments where I was flipping pages begging the book gods for everything to be alright, but with these moments of darkness were broken by a ray of light, whether it be one of Holly's snarky caustic one liners or something wildly inappropriate from Jackson.
What I adored so much with Enjoy Your Stay was the dual POV's, watching the story unfold from both Holly and Jackson allowed you into their mind space, you saw why things were said, and why they behaved the way they did. Having secondary characters like Bob, Sammy, Chelcie and Cooper, bringing back Ana and Elijah rounded out Holly and Jackson's story, these additional characters breathed even more life into it, and left me feeling as though these characters are in a great place, no matter what comes their way in crazy little Sugartown.
Carmen Jenner you write one hell of a leading man, I never thought that I would say that Cooper could redeem himself, but I will gladly eat my words, he sure did have his swoon worthy moments, but ultimately with his dirty mouth, and balls to the wall attitude Jackson Rowe stole my heart. Enjoy Your Stay surpassed every one of my expectations, if I could do the dirty with it and have little EYS babies I would.
Congratulations on a brilliant follow up to Welcome To Sugartown, I cant wait to see what you do next.
Holly and Jackson share each others worst traits. They are stubborn, impetuous, selfish and neither is very good with expressing themselves in a way outside of the bedroom.
They are not the easiest characters to like, but they are also hard not to love a little. They are they type that make you laugh followed quickly by the sudden urge stab them in the neck.
They are flawed people with a messy love story, but in the end they work. They fit each other. They deserve each other. For better or worse, they belong to each other.
It is not the same dark emotional ride that Welcome To Sugartown was. It is not a Notebook type epic love story, it's raw, it's gritty and it is one hell of a ride.
Gotta start with my biggest beef- The scene that killed it for me (you know what it is if you read this already) was way too similar to that scene in book one, Welcome to Sugartown. And that scene in Welcome to Sugartown made me sick. I call it one of those CHEATING scenes- even if the couple isn't technically together, it was SO wrong. It didn't affect me as much as when Elijah was caught in a similar "position" in book one (even though it was maliciously intended to by Jackson), probably because Holly wasn't as sweet as Ana, but it still made me want to vomit. I am so tired of the guy royally f***ing up, the girl becoming distraught, the guy then getting the girl off, the smug smile and the smart a** comment by the guy to the girl, which all leads up to the girl feeling dirty and ashamed of herself! What is wrong with the residents of Sugartown?!!
Besides that epic fail by Jackson, the back and forth between Holly and Jackson was a tough pill to swallow. "I love you, I love you not"... "I want to be together but we can't be together"... "You're not what's best for the baby"... Crap on a cracker! Sometimes you just need to tell your head to shut up Holly! That goes for you too, Jackson!!
And they were just plain mean to each other, not to mention Coop.
As for Chelcie... Really Jackson?! That situation was totally weird and uncomfortable. I wasn't in the mood for it today or EVER!
The ending felt rushed. I wanted more of Jackson and Holly together after the baby came. Oh, well... at least Elijah and Ana were making it like rabbits throughout Enjoy Your Stay. And the sex tape... that was hilarious.
