Every section is easy to understand and is a seed that can grow into something larger. Rob tells you how he uses an idea and what he got out of it without any "fluff" or "filler". In fact, while most "self-help" books are just a series of checklists or "to-do" boxes, this book is something you can put into your life IMMEDIATELY.
My favorite sections are "Maniacal Goal Setting" and "Inevitability Thinking" because they frame things in ways that are new and unique to me. In fact, I couldn't wait to get off PTO to start immediately putting these ideas into action in my work life. This is a great book for anyone who wants to succeed in business and in life and yes, I will be recommending this book to my kids!
There were many meditations that I plan to use next week, but the one that I found most beneficial is "How to Get a Win-Win Result from a Tough 50-50 Decision". Rob describes a technique he first learned about from his coach, Terry Cranford. If you are trying to make a tough decision, make a list of pros and cons, and then use your gut to make a choice. Then (and this is the trick), take all of the pros of BOTH lists and combine them into a list of pros for your decided outcome and figure out a way to turn the pros from the not chosen option into pros for the chosen option. Brilliant.
Rob has created a fascinating, dense, and useful guide to success in life and business by summarizing for us what he learned during his very successful career. Highly recommended.
What I liked the most about this book was the format - the short, concise chapter summaries made it really
easy to consume the content and kept me engaged.
These are my top 4 takeaways:
1) Assume positive intent
2) When given the choice of being right versus kind, try choosing kind
3) How to write a statement of purpose and why it is important to be purposeful about all the things in your life
4) Your model for 50/50 decisions. In particular, your recommendation to decide based on the tougher choice
This book will provide you with great models, frameworks and exercises you can use in both business and live. Highly recommended.
In this book he has laid out for reader young and old a great road map for success in the years ahead.
Many leaders craft how to books late in life as if they were keeping their secrets hidden, Rob is doing the opposite, he is laying them out for us so he can continue to perfect them.
I now have the perfect graduation gift for anyone I know and would suggest you consider doing the same.
