About the Author
JOSHUA FREE is the founder of Mardukite Ministries (2008), an organization that has continued to grow phenomenally since, and the prolific author of many works including Arcanum, Book of Elven-Faerie, The Sorcerer's Handbook of Merlyn Stone, Necronomicon Anunnaki Bible, Sumerian Religion, Babylonian Myth & Magic, Draconomicon, and many others. In the 1990's he was the youngest initiate of the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids in England until he left to independently pursue the origins of the Celtic Druids - resulting in the "Book of Elven-Faerie", now available in a collected works anthology with "Draconomicon" and "Druidry" titled: "The Druid Compleat" (2013). Joshua Free co-founded the Systemology division (Systemological Society) of the Mardukite Research Organization in the Spring of 2011 and authored the first four 'NexGen booklet' installments comprising "Systemology 1.0" (better known as Systemology-101), including "Human, More Than Human", "Systemology: Defragmentation", "Trans-Human Generations" and "The Games" -- all of which appear in "Awakening: Systemology-101." This work has since been complimented by the Systemology 2.0 materials released in 2013 as "Reality Engineering." Although usually best known for his Mesopotamian work emphasis on Sumerians, the Anunnaki and Babylonian Tradition for the "Mardukites", his work on the Dragon Legacy and modern Pheryllt Druid and Elven-Faerie tradition is also paramount. Recently, his writings even appeared in the third and final volume of the bestselling trilogy by Douglas Monroe, "The Deepteachings of Merlyn". Additional esoteric background: Joshua Free first began by receiving personal apprenticeships from his early years and progressing through his entire life, including various Christian Gnostics, Rosicrucians, Freemasons, members of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, O.T.O. Ordo Templi Orientis, A.A. Argentium Astrum among others. He was officially initiated into the Pheryllt Druid tradition at the age of 12 and began leading his own "Gnostic"-styled Druid organization in the mid-1990's at age 13, the extension of which continued to exist until 2001.

I've not read any other works on Enochian magick, and therefore can't compare it to other views of the system. Enochian magick has always seemed very cryptic and complex to me so I have very little interest in pursuing it, however there is an overview and guidelines in this book on how to apply the system. The completeness of the material, I suppose, is subject to the reader's experience, but at the very least I believe this could get someone started along the path. Concerning the Kabbalah aspect, while there are interesting tidbits found here, most of my references will continue to be from other sources.
The strength of the book is in the author's compelling writing style and the history he presents. Joshua Free clearly illustrates how old knowledge was reinterpreted over time, some bits manipulated and others forgotten. This was among the first books I've read concerning the Anunnaki paradigm. It opened my eyes to some new ideas. I've read it two or three times already and can see myself going back again and again.
As far as the Enochian content goes well sure it's in there but it's not very accurate and doesn't say anything so much as what to do with it. This is the first time I ever read that John Dee needed money so he was trying to get the angels to make gold. Where's the source for that or is it more wild conjecture? While I've never heard of this it could even be true. Though I doubt anyone with the favor of Queen Elizabeth was that broke. It was later in John Dee's life that he started selling off his estate. Anyways the point is the author presents information all the time without anything to back up his claim. The Enochian material itself is just as bland as every other standard Enochian book. Here are the calls, have fun. No new insight or anything.
In summary, this book wasn't bad but it mostly feels like the author is ranting his point and we're just supposed to accept it without being given much in the way of evidence or suggestions for further study. It did make me go aha and hmm a few times so it's cool for that. I hope the author's future works are a bit more in depth because his ideas are indeed worth pondering. Yet because of the manner they're presented it often feels like you're chatting with your stoner friend who thinks he's just discovered the secretes of the universe and maybe he has but he's not making much sense at the moment.
This book is worth buying as long as you know what you're getting.
