I repeat! Spoilers abound. This is your warning

Whelp, I am sorry to say this one did nothing but irritated me. I feel bad saying this, but WTF?!

This book was off to a great start until the pirates showed up and then everything just went nutty. So Indigo is running away from her recently released from prison ex. She decided to go, via yacht, to England bringing her new found bestie Eric along. Yacht catches fire, Eric and Indy make it to a life boat and are adrift for a few day. Big boat comes along with skull and crossbones flag…… uh yeah… SKULL. AND. CROSS. BONES. FLAG. What year is this? 2013. Here is where it all goes downhill for me.

1. Upon boarding and speaking out Hendrix the “Captain” HITS her. He sends her reeling to the floor, but later on he is angry when he finds out her ex used to beat her???? Really?

2. He decided to use her as repayment of a debt by selling her as a sex slave, but he’s a pirate so that makes it okay.

3. She gets to stay in the captains chambers while her “best friend” is in a cage. She visits him a few times and once during a heated argument with him she storms out saying she needs air…..she needs air….AIR! So poor Eric can stay in his dirty smelly cage clothes and stew while she gets, drunk, flirts and gets it on with the captain. What an awesome friend she is. Out of the two of them, SHE’S the one that needs air.

Oh, and less we forget Indy and Hendrix have a blood oath, with the cutting of hands and shaking with blood. Did I mention the year in this book is 2013? Have no fear, though, they used condoms, so that’s good right?

I know I’m doing nothing but ranting, and that isn’t my usual style, but dude, It’s been a loooooong time since I’ve been so irritated with a character!

I was disappointed in this book and I think that I will be disappointed in this series. I just felt that the concept was a good one, but it missed it's mark. I felt that there could have been more to the story line, maybe adding some more background on both the hero and heroine. I didn't like the fact that this left a cliff-hanger, I thought that maybe she could have added the cliff-hanger as a chapter to the second book.

Overall, I thought the book was ok. The price was good for the story ($.99), and if the second is the same price, I would buy it.

I'm not sure if mentioning ff is proper etiquette in Amazon book reviews...but here goes.

I kept seeing this author come up in my "recommended for you" list. I've been thinking of looking at her MC series but hadn't quite gotten there yet. Then I saw this book and thought, "This is different, although I remember reading a story like it at one time on a free website. I enjoyed it enough. Maybe this will be a great book." I also purchased this book because it had a 5 star rating with over 100 reviews.

It turns out is was the same story. I'm happy that authors have a venue to turn their stories into personal revenue. However I'm not as enthralled when they merely change the characters names (at least some of them...I did have a chuckle that Charlie was still Charles) and some physical features. In the world of free reading I would be saying "Thank you so much for putting your words on paper and sharing them freely with us.", but when I'm paying $4.00 for a kindle book in a vast sea of kindle books, I'm looking for a little more.

I would have liked to have seen more research and more background information put into this story. What exactly did Hendrick do? What were his business ventures? Give us more of his background. How has he managed to successfully stay in this life for 10 years? Who are some of the other off the grid characters that he has come in contact with? What do they do? What did he owe Charles money for? Why are they enemies? Give us more serious details about the characters and their lives please. (SPOILER Why should we like Hendrick? He planned to sell the h. He killed several people in this book. Sure, one was going to hurt the h, however some of them were there to help her and he killed them.

It had zero believe ability and was all over the map when it came to the finer points. It also is in serious need of an editor, sentences don't even go together in too many places to count. It was like the author started with one thought, decided to change it to another thought but only changed half the sentence.

It made my brain bleed.

To fix this book requires more than stringing together coherent sentences. It is also in dire need of some actual research of the subject matter and some attention to basic details. White sand beaches, a tropical temperature and pine trees don't exactly dovetail together flawlessly.

Don't waste your time with this one.

The first half of the book was really good and hooked me into finishing it. A little over the halfway point the story felt rushed and started to fall apart for me. I never really felt the connection of love between Hendrix and Indigo. It wasn't believable. I kept waiting for the story to have the same feel as the beginning where the progression of the story made sense. The sample convinced me to buy the book but the whole story has deterred me from wanting to buy the next book.
