I felt so much empathy for Laurie when she discovers her husband's betrayal (been there, done that, have the t-shirt) and so when she meets Mr. Tall Dark and Hotter than Hell while away at a conference, her life is turned upside down and her depression from feeling "less than worthy or desired" is briefly lifted.
This book has so many secrets, lies, betrayals and emotionally devastating scenes that I was constantly on my toes and flipping those pages as fast as I could. I love this author's style of writing, because as she gets into her character's thoughts and hearts, she also touches on some very universal feelings as well and creates flawed people who are believable and relatable. I can't wait to find out what happens next!
***** 4.5 ***** "a woman on the edge holding on for her life" stars
Laurie finds out that her husband cheated on her with her conniving best friend. She decides to have a one night Tamar and it turns out he’s her new boss! Her husband still wants to work things out and her parents control her life. All in all, it every cliche in the book literally in one book.
Laurie needs to woman up and stop weeping and calling betrayal at every turn.
The sweltering hot sex scenes have you fanning for cooler air. When you get down to it though this book is about betrayal in the highest form. Laurie is reeling from so much of it that she is lost. She is a strong woman but how much can she endure?
Entice is a great read. S. Layne keeps you wanting more. Your move into contemporary romance has been a good one. Thank you for your hard work.
Not only was it hot but I was also a really good read. I have to say that I really liked all the characters in is book. If you don't want to read spoilers know that I plan on reading book #2, actually I can't wait.
Aside from the fact that James cheated I feel sorry for the guy. He generally seems like he might be ok, his reason for cheating as is any in y book is bogus, but what do you do.
Liam. Well hello there sex god. I really like Liam too, he's got that whole powerful way about him, and the fact that he's so good at what he does is a plus. I just wish we saw more of HIM, I'd like to get inside his head a little see MORE.
Laurie. So of one hand I really like her she seems strong at times, other times not so much. I like that she doesn't just instantly believe the crap James is giving her about why he did what he did, or that it was one and will never happen again. She was trying to work things out in her head. Now this is the part I'm not so hot about. I never like it in a book when all a dude has to do is look or touch a chick and everything flies out the window, dang it lady have a back bone control your hormones for a second and put our foot down. I feel like she gives in too much with Liam but she's dragging James around a bit. If you want a divorce to end things then stop calling him, taking his calls and going to meet him places. It's giving him false hope I feel.
I wanted to love this book so hard, but I will be honest, I'm not much into cheating books. Yes I knew going into this book that this was what it was about, but I was hard for me. It was hard because I felt for Laurie. I wanted her to make the right decision, but honestly, what is the right decision in a situation like this. I gave this story 4 Ruby Red Lips because I just couldn't get past the whole cheating things, from all sides.
I'm new to S. Layne, but I have to say her writing kept me wanting more. I stuck with this story because it was beautifully written. She did an amazing job keeping me captivated. All in all, I liked the story. It was just hard for me to get past the real of this story.
