Enticing Emma by N.J. Walters is book two in the 'Summersville Secrets". I felt this was a standalone book and is around 122 pages.
Tucker Martin has been attracted to Emma Howard since they first met. Tucker knows he wants a permanent relationship with Emma but she is very put offish. Tucker has seen what a caring, funny person she is and the more he knows the more he wants her. But when she thinks he is trying to get to close to her she gets colder to him. Tucker finds that an apartment in Emma building is available he quickly moves in to be closer o her.
Emma has been hurt before by men like Tucker and has not intention of doing so again. Emma is finding it hard to ignore the feelings that he is bring up in her but she still tries too. But in a weak moment she gives into him and they have a quick encounter. After that Emma has moved into a more defensive mode to try and avoid him and fight these feelings more so. For Tucker it just confirmed that they are made for each other and he is determine to bring their relationship forward.
Series: Summersville Secrets #2
Author: N.J. Walters
Genre: Romance, Erotic
Blurb: Damaged by betrayal . . .
Emma Howard learned the hard way that charming, good-looking men can’t be trusted, and she’s perfected the art of keeping her distance—until Tucker Martin moves into her apartment building. Their immediate physical attraction to one another is explosive, and she welcomes the opportunity to explore her newly awakened sexuality. But after a heated night of passion, Emma pulls away, unwilling to believe that a man who has everything she wants will want to stick around.
Driven by desire . . .
Tucker has wanted Emma since the first moment he laid eyes on her, and his need only grows more intense after they spend one amazing night together—until Emma goes from insatiable to unreachable. Bewildered but not broken, he’s determined to prove to her that he’s as sincere as he is sexy. And as Tucker patiently sets out to win the woman of his dreams, he knows Emma will have to face her past before they can indulge in the pleasures of a deeply loving future.
This is a fully revised edition of a book originally published as Heat Wave.
Thoughts: This was my first foray reading a N.J. Walters book that wasn’t a paranormal. The only books I have read from the author are her Salvation Pack series up until this point. I was surprised to find that I liked Enticing Emma as well as I did – frankly, I enjoyed it even more than the paranormal reads from her.
Enticing Emma gives you a naughty but sweet romance. It is a very short read, but Walters manage to sum everything up and still give you a connection to the characters and a storyline that is paced well and doesn’t leave you feeling like someone cut a few chapters out of a book. As a reader, you still come away from the book satisfied.
The perfect quick read!
Review by: Sarah
Enticing Emma is the second book in the Summersville Secrets Series. This book can be read as a standalone however, it may take a minute to find your bearings, so to speak, because this book begins with Tucker and Emma's third date and the first time they sleep together. All the information you need is provided in this book but it just throws you right in there. That was different for me. Most books start at the first meet but I found that I enjoyed this. The chemistry between these two characters was unreal. I could practically feel every drop of sweat described, the constant tension created by Emma denying the way she truly felt. It was fantastic! Tucker is a kind and patient Hero. He just knows. Period. And he is willing to put in the time and effort to really make something lasting between the two. He doesn't waiver from his feelings from her. I, personally, dislike wishy-washy Heroes, so Tucker was right up my alley.
Enticing Emma is written from alternate points of view which worked really well. There was some mild drama involved. Nothing to angst-y, just enough to keep a steady flow and keep you interested in what was happening next. As soon as you think there will be an easy reunion *BAM* a curve ball. I liked that after Emma was so reluctant to admit that she possessed any feelings other than physically in the beginning, and continually spurned Tucker's advances that it was ultimately up to her to fix things in the long run. The scene towards the middle of the book where Tucker 'tricks' Emma into coming to him has to be one of the most adorably memorable scenes I've ever read!! Seriously how cute was that?
Overall I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend you pick it up! I am going to go back and read book one because now I'm curious about Annabell and Mike!
