I think once the pissing contest ends they have a long road to find a happy medium. Not an easy one for any of them. I loved how Justin and Lace were super tight. She understood and offers comport to Justin when he was down. She gave him hope and a few pointers that made the transition to being the Tempest Lead singer a little easier.
The dynamic of the twins Avery and Justin was unique. Their story about being kids was tough. Somewhere nestled in the drama of a rock band is a story of their big hearts. They have a reveal that is so heartwarming.
The story is very meaningful for Lace and Bridgett. Their bond is strong and when she called Lace jumped up and said come and stay with me. I will leave the rest to you to enjoy, but it is sweet. When Justin meets Bridget (Lace's only friend in drug rehab) he is smitten. She escapes to Canada asking Lace for a place to stay. THIS is all in the first 5 chapters!
Yes it is jammed packed with excitement, sex, steamy, sex, love and friends...wait there is a rock band in there with a manager that rules with an iron fist. Grab it now I promise it is as flawless as the cover.
This book tells the story of Justin Jones, the twin brother of Avery Jones, introduced in the Resolution series. Justin becomes the lead singer and guitarist of Tempest when Warren Jenkins quits abruptly. He and Avery, guitarist for Brutal Strength, are both clients of Black Cat Records, a record company that serves as a backdrop for this story.
Justin, after a stint at rehab has never been interested in having a long term relationship and can't understand how both his sister and good friends need that in their lives. However, when he meets the sweet and beautiful Bridget Dubois, his interests change.
He falls for not only her outer beauty but her warm and loving soul. Not to mention her sweet little boy who captures Justin's heart hook line and sinker!!
This book is a step above most rocker books. The love that drives each of the characters, whether by blood or friendship, is a thread that connects them all. They care about each other, stand by each other and know when to call each other out. They are real. The author gets you involved in the story from the very first page and soon you wish you could be a part of this tight knit crew.
Michelle Mankin has given us another well written and simply fantastic read that I will not soon forget. Thankfully there will be another book that I will devour just like all of those prior.
This love story between Justin and Bridget left me sighing, smiling and just overall completely satisfied. I cannot recommend this story enough. A huge 5 stars from me.
There were a few things keeping it from a 5 star read, tho. A large part of the story is centered around Justin working hard to have Bridget trust him. And then *poof* there is the obligatory break up that isn't a break up & ... idk, I just didn't feel it. I was more annoyed than sympathetic, and their time apart was sort of glossed over. No; that's not the right phrasing, but I'm not sure how to describe it. I just didn't feel it. And then the end was going really well - loved how it was written! Until the lead in to the next book, which felt abrupt & rushed.
Having said that, however, again, I really loved the story & the writing style. I am planning on picking up book 3, because I'd like to see where the story goes w/ War. : )
