Amazon Exclusive: Interview with Sylvia Day
After naming Sylvia Day’s Bared to You a 2012 Best Book of the Year in Romance and devouring Reflected in You, we've been anxiously awaiting the release of the third book in Day's scorching Crossfire series, Entwined with You. To whet our appetites and make waiting for the book's arrival a little easier, Amazon Romance expert Alyssa Morris spoke with Day about what’s next for Gideon and Eva, her upcoming collaboration with Harlequin and Cosmopolitan, her all-time favorite romance novels, and much more.
Alyssa Morris: Now that you’ve had a bit of time to absorb the success of Bared to You, does it feel real? Or are you still surprised?
Sylvia Day: I'm still surprised! I’m glad I’m a veteran and that I’ve been publishing for close to 10 years, so I had some experience under my belt as far as dealing with it. But on the other hand, there’s no way to anticipate writing something that becomes a global phenomenon, you know. I don’t know about other writers--I didn’t even dream about anything like that. I always figured that it just happened to the Stephenie Meyers and J.K. Rowlings of the world. So, yeah, I don’t think I’ll ever get over being surprised that I had a series that struck such a chord.
AM: It just hit such a moment in our culture, where all of a sudden this is what everyone wants to be reading. It’s an interesting confluence.
SD: Right. We always talk about that, about right book, right time. Random House released Fifty Shades on the same day I self-published Bared to You, so talk about the right timing. Just… wow!
AM: Do you have a favorite moment in the Crossfire series so far?
SD: You know, I really loved the weekend that Gideon and Eva spent in the Outer Banks. These poor guys. When they’re alone, they’re fine. Life is perfect when they’re alone. Unfortunately, they don’t get a lot of time alone. [Laughs] So I just love that. I love seeing them together away from all of the distractions and intrusions and everything else that’s going wrong in their lives.
I can’t talk too much about Entwined with You because it’s not out yet. And that’s so hard, because I so want to talk tabout it! But there’s more alone time with Gideon and Eva as we move forward in the series and they grow stronger, so I’m really enjoying that as a writer.

A Goodreads Choice Awards Finalist for Best Romance of 2013
"Day's highly anticipated third Crossfire novel is worth the wait. Eva and Gideon's relationship reaches a new level, and while they continue to struggle with mistakes from their past, there's no denying the fiery passion that blazes between the two. It's been a delight watching Eva grow into a strong, confident woman, and even Gideon makes some progress as a partner worthy of such a fantastic heroine." - RT Book Reviews
"Day takes romantic love by the scruff of the neck and injects it with a Class-A drug for added intensity, but in Entwined with You also produces a love story that is ultimately sophisticated, engaging, clever and sweet." - The Irish Independent
"... the characters are compelling, and the book itself is well written and the characterization is interesting. The sex scenes in this book are extremely hot and they do advance the connection between the characters." - Dear Author
"The Crossfire series raises the bar... Although they may have been victims in the past, they are no longer. Strengthen by their resolve to take control of their lives, instead of being controlled by their past; both Eva and Gideon display great character development. I highly recommend Entwined with You." - Night Owl Reviews

Amazon should put a stop to this drama of price gouging!!! After waiting months Sylvia Day now thinks she can turn the series whichever way she pleases - no ma'am you cannot! I am done with this series - shame on you for stretching a great series into a travesty. Did you not learn from FSOG - it ended in three series, anythhing more loses the plot, waters the relationship or the strength of the thick story line!
Above all anything beyond three parts is "DAYLIGHT ROBBERY" and we're not having it! You should have written the story thick with the answers that you promised Sylvia and ended a great series like your fans were promised!
I am beyond disappointed!
Refund will be instantly requested after this!!!!!!!!
Book One - Bared to you, I gave three stars. Like many others I had just finished Fifty Shades of Grey and was looking to ride the train a little longer. I was good, not amazing but good.
Book Two- Reflected in You, I gave an astonishing five stars because I simply could not put it down. Yes I was a blurry eyed reader at 3 am just striving to get to the end.
Book Three- Hhhhmmmmm........... I had no idea going in that the Crossfire series was changed from a three book series to now a five book series. Queue light bulb! Now I get it. Not gonna comment to much on that topic..... maybe.
I felt like EWY started pretty strong. Right where we left off. I didn't realize just how much I missed these guys. I also forgotten how much I liked the natural conversation these two have when they spar with one another.
"...he murmured. "Of course, you're my favorite ride."
"Aw, that's sweet, baby. And you're my favorite joystick."
"Can I take advantage of you in the limo?" His eyes laughed at me. "By all means, angel mine."
I found myself highlighting so much of the sweet and sexy comments between these two. Something I didn't do with the first two books.
"Angel, a crowd of millions couldn't hide
you from me. I found you once. I'll always find you."
"There wasn't a second that passed when you weren't on my mind. You own me, Eva. Wherever I am, whatever I'm doing, I belong to you."
So the major plot/storyline gets resolved in EWY. We aren't left hanging toooooo much. There is a plot twist/change. (I kinda feel that happened to enable another book(s))
We get a real good look into secondary characters. Many more subplots going on in the background (again I think to allow for more books)
But to get back to Gideon and Eva we have no relationship cliffhanger this time around. And THAT I was thrilled over. I think they were solid in EWY. Grown up and smart even. I loved them as a couple and the "team of us" they showed each other.
I am not going into to much detail as the book was just released yesterday and I want to be relatively spoiler free.
I am going to give a strong 3.75 Stars (reverting to Star Search scoring on this one)
I wanted say I am not sure if I will be buying the next one but come on who are we kidding? When it comes out I will be pre-ordering and reading the teasers along with everyone else cause lawdy have ya heard Gideon?
"I look at you, angel, and I want you so badly. I want to be with you, listen to you, talk to you. I want to hear you laugh and hold you when you cry. I want to sit next to you, breathe the same air, share the same life. I want to wake up to you like this every day forever. I want you."
