I really liked this book for a few reasons. One, Chase is back and as funny and amazing as ever, pretty much recovered with the help of the events from Eulogy (Chase is by far my favorite guy, so much that my dog is 90% named after him). You get to see Nixon and Phoenix as parents to little babies, and you also see how the rest of the family has adjusted to having babies and so many changes in their group. There was also a cameo from the Bordello family from Molly McAdams' Firefly books, which I thought was cool.
Envy is filled with action, drama, sexy times and it's fair share of darkness. The chemistry between Vic and Renee flies off the page at you and it's hard to believe that these two have been able to keep their hands to themselves at all! You completely understand the circumstances that Vic is fighting against, but you also feel for both of them as you can just see the pull between them. It's almost like they are magnets and they just *need* to be with one another.
This was once of those books that I didn't want to put down and I never knew what was going to happen next, which just added to the edge of my seat feelings I had while moving through this book. RVD never fails to deliver and this was no exception. I can't wait for the next book in this awesome series!
Vic is the bodyguard for five families and is sworn to protect them with everything he is, no distractions, but he can't keep his eyes of the nanny, Renee, when Renee's life is in danger and he has to keep an eye on her and protect her as well, things get interesting, especially when there are secrets surrounding her. Nixon warns Vic away from her and to just protect her, and won't let Vic tell her the secrets surrounding her, or her father, but it kills him to keep things from her. Needless to say things heat up between Renee and Vic and I loved the back and forth between them and how tortured Vic was with his choice between Renee and his duty between family. He knew what he needed to do, but he didn't want to have to make the choices he had to make.
The way this book played out, and the secrets surrounding Renee were definitely interesting and opened up a lot of new doors for this series, and I can't wait to see how this book and new characters tie in to upcoming books in the series. I am a huge fan of this series and have loved it from the very beginning and this was a perfect addition to add new characters, and hopefully new readers. Rachel Van Dyken has definitely done it again, and if you're a lover of the series, or wanting to see what this is all about, definitely grab your copy of Envy today!
Renee is looking forward to going to college and leaving her terrifying job as the babysitter for the mafia behind. But the one person who scares her the most also captivates her interest when they are thrown together after things get dangerous and lives are being threatened. Vic is the family bodyguard who has sworn to protecting the family above all else but he never counted on falling for the babysitter. What starts out as a one time thing turns into something neither saw coming. Now they may both lose their lives if they can't find a way to let go or convince the family to promit their relationship. And the ending is an edge of your seat action packed, heart racing scene that will take you by surprise, but expect nothing less from Rachel and her Eagle Elite books! Blood In,No Out!
Being the nanny to the five families, should have been safe. Should have been easy, if you count seeing people argue and shoot one another at family dinners, for fun. It should have been a job to only last the summer. But those aren't the breaks for Renee.
Then there's the hot as hell body guard who wants much more than her safety. Vic's filled with secrets. The biggest one of all will be the biggest game changer for Renee and her life of simplicity.
I loved this story and hope all of you will too. I highly recommend it.
