From the Manufacturer
“Coupe” Sized Casino
The Casino Coupe is the legendary Casino reborn in an ES-339 body size, a super slick “coupe” version of the legendary hollowbody that since 1961 has been a favorite of tone connoisseurs including Keith Richards, The Beatles, and Grammy winner Gary Clark Jr. The new Epiphone Casino Coupe has all of the Casino’s trademark tone features including neck size, tonewoods, and pickups, but in a “Coupe” size for easy travel. Now you can play the legendary archtop in a smaller size without a smaller sound.
Body and neck
The body and top are made from 5-layer laminated Maple in a Natural finish with single layer ivory binding on the top and back. The Mahogany hand-set neck has the classic 24.75” scale with a 1960s SlimTaper shape. The SlimTaper profile is patterned after prime vintage models.
Pickups and electronics
Like the original Casino, the Casino Coupe has full-size, full power “dogear” P-90s. The P-90, which was first introduced by Gibson Brands in 1948, is simply the best sounding single coil pickup to be found. With a full rounded tone, the P-90 is the “all purpose” pickup, capable of sharp lead tones, clean rhythm punch, and gritty, easily controllable feedback. And combined with the pure hollowbody of the Coupe, a guitarist can achieve almost acoustic tones at low volume.
The Coupe carries Epiphone’s heavy duty ¼” non-rotating nickel input jack, all nickel hardware, a LockTone Tune-o-matic bridge and a “Coupe”-sized Trapeze tailpiece.
A hard case is available.

If there were one area I wish were different, I wish the fret board were deeper/darker. Please, it's time to let Epiphone off the hook and comparing them to Gibsons which cost 4x as much. Are they 4x better? IMHO, nope. I'm proud to own, play and display the EPIPHONE label on my guitars (I own two now and love their quality, tone and playability).
I saw this guitar in a local shop and was immediately taken with it. Why? Because to those who know about guitars, the Casino's reputation precedes it. Most famously used by the Beatles, it (and its Gibson counterpart, the ES-330) has also been used by many famous guitarists from vastly disparate genres--from Grant Green's famous Blue Note jazz albums, to songsmith Elliott Smith's amazing live show, to indie rockers Interpol.
So the Casino has a reputation to maintain. However, those musicians all used vintage 60s-era guitars; how would a modern, Chinese-made, polyurethane-finished replica hold up? The answer is: surprisingly well!! As soon as I picked it up, I noticed the neck is fat and fills my whole hand (I am a fan of fat necks). The frets are a bit on the small side, but not too small for me. I strummed a few chords and was again impressed. This thing was just so full of resonance; the full hollowbody construction allows the entire guitar to vibrate and the unplugged sound is surprisingly loud. I plugged it into a small solid state amp and played it for about ten minutes. Wow. The sound was bright, but with meatiness and authority--the P-90s really shine in this guitar.
However, its budget price is an indicator that compromises and shortcuts were taken during its construction and factory setup.Read more ›
THere's a surprising range of tone you can get out of those two P-90s. The feel was great too. Had a real low action. Honestly, I never had a problem with the guitar, though if the inpur jack were to fall in the body... or a pot... well, you can imagine the nightmare that would be. Never happened in the five years I owned my Casino.
The only downside to this guitar is that the combination of P-90s and hollowbody doesn't stand up too well to high-gain music. If that's your style, beware; this guitar will feedback.
