I recently left a customer review of the Gibson futura SG with mini tune, etc., and about finishing paying for it about now(?!!!) ! And I'll stick by what I wrote about that one,IF its right in quality control all around and that is a must.
*** That said , your can figure, I'm going to say only positives about the Epiphone SG limited edition '66 G-pro 400, for sure! Gibson being the parent company, over seeing (?) EPIPHONE. it's Surprising to see that this guitar-G 400 Pro in Pelham Blue color ,its application and finish is superb. Like custom shop quality ! For aprx. a 1/3rd the price of the futura ! The color scheme overall is special, with silver and black accoutrements. Tone ,sounds, SG powerful pick-ups, coil taps , sleek neck- again with a fast sleek action and neat finish, can't be beat, for the price. I bought the-$20+ more- epihone hard case ,to protect this keeper . Again, this beaut, covers all genre of music, and still give you the SG's standard of classic tones...Why I bet guitar this comes close to a 1966 SG all the way through.... MINE came, to house in perfect new condition and set-up properly, kneck and intonation, decent strings and all! This was NOT the case with the Futura, who's factory strings were the worst amongst a few other critical points! And though I probably won't change the strings now(from manufacturer), as I will just let this guitar properly adjust/settle in to the atmosphere in the room I practice. I've been playin in/and around/, guitar(s), for over 36 years, and have yet, to see, a new, "pro quality", guitar for THIS price !!!
I will be up-dating this review to say what ever else you should know to BUY IT- I get no compensation, just spreading the unbelieved truth, about this gem, to players, to make a wise purchase. Don't let the used low prices fool you, on this one. As nothing used SELLS like it "use-too", dan shame(!!) and shouldn't be(?)! This is a must have guitar ,and put the bolt on kneck guitar down awhile ..let that LP rest somewhere !...AND get that, fast necked, custom shop-esque SG pro 400, and play better and wider in tonality..and needless to say the eye catching, eclectic looks !
