4.0 out of 5 stars Great guitar to mod, great value for the $
By Geetar on April 29, 2018
I bought this guitar to modify it because although I already own 2 Epiphone arch top les Paul’s, I like flat top guitars too and this one has a flat body. I replaced the tuners with Grover 18:1 rotomatics , replaced the pots with CTS 500K push pull pots, replaced the pickup with a Seymour Duncan P-rails pickup, and swapped the capacitor with an orange drop cap just because I had one on hand. In retrospect, though, I think the original capacitor is fine. I used a wiring diagram I found on the internet and now with the 2 push/pull pots I have 4 different available tones: P-90, rails, series humbucker, and parallel Humbucker. I also installed an inexpensive $12 adjustable wraparound bridge which in my opinion allows me more intonation versatility than the original lightening bolt style bridge does. If the pick guard in my picture looks different than the original it’s because I made a custom pick guard that is slightly larger...Just a personal preference.
