A bit about setup, invest some research in an online projector distance tool to ensure that this will work for you. My living room is about 20' deep, and i'm projecting onto a 120" screen. The image can go larger than the screen at this distance. As i had to mount it upside down from the ceiling, i was able to flip the image in the settings. I ran a 30' HDMI cable from my receiver to the back wall under the couch, and covered it with a heavy decorative carpet in front of the couch. For what i use it for, gaming and hard copy movie collection, i would never go back to sitting in front of a standard 60" TV.
I've been delighted with the performance of the 3020 with Blu-Ray and DVD discs (played using PowerDVD on a PC) and Roku streaming. I'm not a huge gamer, but I like Portal and Portal 2, and they are fantastic in 1080p stereoscopic 3D at 120 inch diagonal! (A third-party program is necessary to render these and most games in stereoscopic 3D.)
I'm a programmer, and for the last decade have needed reading glasses with my desktop and laptop displays. Using the 3020, I can sit in my recliner and use my wireless keyboard and mouse, and see the whole 1920x1080 computer display in perfect focus without glasses.
Compared to Epson's higher-end models, the 5020 and 6020, the 3020 doesn't do quite as well on black level, and it doesn't have lens shift, or the motorized lens cover of the 6020. However, it's $1000 less expensive than the 5020. For most home theater situations lens shift isn't needed, and $1000 is a lot to pay for a modest improvement in black level.
Overall I'd have to say that this is one of the best values in AV equipment I've ever seen.
Researched projectors that met our need plus having at least 2000 lumen color output for several weeks. Read factory web sites, review sites and customer input on Amazon. Decided on this Epson. It arrived and I did a temporary set-up on a make-shift stand in the theater. The first impression, when it came on, was WOW! I could not believe how much brighter it was than our five year old projector. I checked all the resolution and it worked on all, including 1080p. The resolution, clarity, and definition is great.
We mounted the projector from the ceiling and it was extremely easy to invert the picture.
A plus is that it has several input ports including component input so we can use our game console with this projector and get good results.
This projector quality and picture is so good for the price that I pay for it and compared to other that I have seen. I love watching 3D movies, Blu-ray, games and movies that I took with my iPhone, I have Apple TV so I AirPlay Mirror anything in my iPhone. Also NFL games. Anything that I high definition looks great.
I have it setup to 120" and its awesome. I just wished I would have bought a DOLBY ATMOS receiver to have a much better experience. Maybe this Christmas. Have to convince the wife first.
But honestly, I have heard of some people having problems with sounds and ticking, yes there are ticking but not enough to be a bother.
Like others I wish that the 3D glasses were cheaper, I bought a couple of cheaper glasses but they don't perform as good as the ones that came with the projector.

GREAT picture quality. Really Really good picture for the price.
LOTS of connections including component and 2 HDMI.
EASY to control - RS232 and dual IR.
LONG life bulbs - specially in ECOmode, which is all you need for home cinema for best contrast.
Auto Iris VERY noisy, I don't know if it was this model issue or just this projector - but it is loud and distracting. The good news is just turn it off and I prefer the picture this way anyway - it is not so distracting both noise wise and picture wise..
FAN is a little bit loud - but not to bad and you don't hear it very often.
bigger than the Optoma projector I used to have. Works great, no complaints.
