Pros:
- It's laser, so it will last 20000 hours, which is around 10 years with normal usage.
- It doesn't heat up as much as bulb projectors and its fan is less noisy.
- It's 3LCD so no rainbow effect, there is minor screendoor effect.
- It has accurate autofocus and cornerstone adjustments.
- It's very small and lightweight, and it is portable.
- Very good internal speakers.
Cons:
- Limited contrast
- No optical zoom
- No optical lens-shift
- Limited lumens
- Not 4K
- 120ms input lag, not good for gaming
Overall a game changer in this price range with some limitations.

Horrendous 120ms input lag. Not for gaming.

I needed a screen projected up on ceiling so that I can play video games while lying down on my bed, and Epson EF12 delivers a lot of attractive features for that: short throw ratio of 1.00:1, very quiet fan noise, compact and aesthetically pleasing looks, HDMI CEC function, smart phone screen mirroring with built-in Chromecast, laser lamps that ensures long life span of the projector, and high contrast ratio with very vibrant colors. Epson got almost everything right for millennials with small apartment, BUT there is one major flaw; a very noticeable input lag of around 120ms. It means I won't be able to make that leap of faith because the response is too slow. It's a real shame because EF12 is one of the rare projectors that actually recommends vertical mount on the wall, too. I believe this could have been the go-to projector for several years to come, if only it didn't have that horrendous input lag.

We love our theater-room and use it every night. When are first projector that lasted 7 years broke I purchased a second one from the same manufacture sadly it lasted just shy of 90 days and the bulb malfunctioned. It's been in the repair shop in Califoria for over a month. I was recently told it's going to be another month to get the part. (Not an Epson, but a well know brand) So I decided to look for a new projector and different manufacture. I will sell the one in the shop when we get it back. So after a lot of online research and watching reviews. I decided on the Epson Epiq Mini EF12. So far I love it. Its picture is fantastic, setup was easy and it also fit on my old projectors mount. Fan noise is almost zero. One of the hardest things to research is output for projectors because sadly many companies just are not honest you will see claims of 4000 lumens and its total BS. This projector says it's 1000. Thats not hight but as I said it's something you need to judge more by seeing the picture knowing that lumen claims are all over the map. For what I needed this projectors picture looks great. Now I do have a theater room and it can be very dark and I also have a screen so those factors will always help but for the price I don't thing you can beat this laser. My one picture is with the room lights on and my second is with them off. Also I am assuming that early versions must have used a mounting plate as you see it in directions and some peoples videos. My projector came with the standard 3 screw holes for a mount two of them are located by removing the rubber feet. Also worth mentioning is the speaker, It's a Yamaha and by sounds really awesome. My projector that broke had a speaker but the fan noise and the cheap speaker made using it not really worth it. That is definitely not the case with the EF12 you can run it with just its own speaker and enjoy some fantastic sound. Very portable so this unit could easy go places and it could fill my entire wall in the theater room no problem. The only down side is the only way to make your picture bigger or smaller is moving the projector that does not both me. To set up for my 100 inch screen it had to be at around 88 inches away. It adjust all other aspects of the image for you automatic, but you can do it manually as well. It has built in APPS but keep in mind it's Google OS and as others have mentioned the play store has no Netflix APP. For me that didn't matter as I use this with a Roku Ultra and it has Netflix, but there is probably a work around out there I'm sure to get Netflix with Google OS. If this last as long as it claims it will be worth the price. I think soon we will probably see lamp based projectors go away.
