We tow a Forest River 26DBH (31 ft/7,000 lbs) with our Ram 1500. With another hitch (chain style weight distribution and anti-sway bar), we were white-knuckled in any sort of wind and when vehicles passed. When driving across the country, we slowed to 40 mph due to dangerous swaying. We bought this hitch in the hopes that we’d be able to avoid buying a 3/4 ton truck. All I can saw is “wow!” All sway is gone and we drive the windiest conditions at highway speeds with extreme confidence. This hitch is worth its weight in gold.

We used an Anderson WDH for a while. I have no complaints about that hitch but then we tried this one and wow. Pulling is so much more stable. Wind gusts, trucks passing. It's so steady, we didn't really know what we were missing. I now know why this hitch has such a loyal following. Its no fuss and it works. We did buy the "silencer" pads so haven't had noise complaints that we've read online.

Kid of mixed on this. Not sure I would purchase again now that I know more about these.

Works well. But my weight is right at limit (1000 lb tongue weight).

Trailer side does bolt on. No holes to drill!

Noisy - I bought the Equal-i-zer "sway bracket jacket" nylon spacers. They should just include these.

Fitment: had 2 fitment issues.
1. The welds on the main head were too large and interfered with the washers supplied. As a result the head could not be mounted at the proper angle. I had to grind a relief in the washers. Geese guys. This is not rocket science.
2. My trailer needed a longer drop, by -4". Their standard system only provides 3" max drop (ball is about level with truck hitch). Getting another drop arm was a pain, so I ordered one from another manufacturer, which worked fine.

Now this unit cost $165 more.... plus a torque wrench.

Other: The main attachment bolts require 320 ft-lb of torque. I had to buy a torque wrench and 3/4 drive socket. I bought a 300 lb one for a decent price and will push a bit past that. The dealer wanted $80 to torque them.

I purchased the equalizer weight distribution hitch 16,000 pound capacity with 1600 pound Tongue weight capacity. I drive a 2006 Dodge ram 2500 Cummins diesel. I am pulling a 29’x8.5’ ATC toy hauler. When it is fully loaded with a four seat razor and two dirt bikes and fully loaded with water the trailer weighs 12,500 pounds and tongue weight is 1600 pounds.

BEFORE: I thought my truck would do just fine since I do have airbags. I never did have any trailer squat. However after putting several thousand miles on the trailer this summer I did notice being extremely fatigued after driving any significant distance with a fully loaded trailer. On some roads with poor surfaces my trailer would start to sway and I would almost be white knuckling while driving.There’s no way I could ever look at my phone while driving. There’s no way I could drive with No hands and a knee. I had to exert almost all of my energy into staying between the lines. If a big truck would come it would suck my trailer and I would watch it sway over the dotted line into the other lane. I began dreading long-distance driving with the trailer.

AFTER: I just did a 600 mile trip. It was amazing at the difference this hitch made. I pretty much drove the entire time with just a few fingers on my steering wheel. I could steer with my knee if I needed an extra hand for a minute. And I even checked my phone a couple of times. There was no driving fatigue after using this hitch and this was a 7 hour drive. I could not give enough positive reviews and I highly highly recommend this hitch to anyone hauling with a bumper pool. Even if your truck is really heavy duty it will make a big difference.

Install of this hitch was actually quite fun as well. You do need a very heavy duty torque wrench as you have to torque some of the bolts to 420ft lbs. I did indeed purchase one of them and now it is sitting in my toolbox. There are a bunch on Amazon and I went with one of the cheaper ones that got good reviews. It took me about two hours to set the hitch up but I think it was well worth it so I can know all of the adjustment variability. It’s certainly not difficult as long as you have a good ability to follow instructions and understand basic mechanical principles such as torque wrenches etc.

Just some things that I’ve noticed is that if I were going over really rough terrain I would probably disconnect the weight distribution bars to allow greater articulation with less stress on the hitch. But for the most part I leave them connected all of the time

I’d purchase this hitch if I were you!

The Equal-i-zer 90001200 is the 12,000 lb model (up to 1200 lb tongue weight). Works well pulling my bumper pull Toy hauler.
You do have to assemble the hitch, but that's true of a lot of things purchased now.

The kit comes with everything you need except:

A lubricant is also recommended for the hitch ball and a place or 2 on the hitch itself (reduce noise, wear)
