Rudy Mazzocchi has followed up his outstanding first novel, "The Equity of of Evil" with another scary trip into the evil of scientists minds gone over to the dark side. The excellent premise of a beneficial scientific break through into controlling fear is turned into a exciting and fast paced thriller involving Japanese mafia, mad scientists, secret prisons and all manner of evil.

Roman Citrano is in the action again, using his knowledge of medical science, devices and the investment side of the business to figure out the twists and turns that confront his allies and him. The science of fear prevention can be mind boggling, but it helps to make the focal subject plausible and possible.

The story moves quickly and comes to a great climax. The characters are varied and fully filled out.

This novel is a remarkable follow up to the first and augers well for follow up sequels. Just a darn good read.

This is the second book I read from Rudy A. Mazzocchi. I read it in three days as it is fast paced and an engaging page turner. However, some of the story line and description were a bit too evil for me at times...and I have a pretty strong stomach in handling tough stories but I have to hope that humanity has not deteriorated so much that this type of people exists in our world!

This is the second book in this collection that I have read and I must say it was everything I expected and more. I am a graduate student studying biomedical engineering and I can find some relevance with the topics that were covered in this book. The author touches upon the science of neuroplasticity which is a fast and emerging field in science and engineering. It was extremely appreciable that the author went into depths on the technological side of neuroplasticity, where most other authors would have skipped the feasibility aspect of such topics. Beyond the science, the author also did an amazing job in providing an unusual plot where evil attempts to harness the human psyche. Besides the comprehensiveness of the authors insight, it was also a thrilling read from cover to cover. Keep it up Mr. Mazzocchi!

Again, Rudy's sequel was a nonstop attention grabber. The depths of his creative imagination held my interest by satisfying my craving for suspense.

Typically I am only able to read when I'm traveling (...wife and new baby at home...), but this book kept such a hold on me that I couldn't wait to find out what's next. Rudy has a way of displaying some of the most dark and twisted, outside of the box, ways of life, but it's displayed in a way that kept me intrigued throughout the entire book.

Looking forward to the next one.

I was thrilled to read the second novel by Mr. Mazzocchi. It was it's own, brilliant manifestation of the VC world and keeps you mezmorised beyond belief. I usually take a week to read a good novel, but this one surpassed my expecations, and it was finished within a day!!! You will be compelled to read this book from cover to cover. No doubt. Mr. Mazzocchi has done it, once again!

I confess that I enjoy books from which I learn something. Michael Crichton wrote books peppered with interesting facts and interesting science, but many of his books -- with exceptions, it is true -- were very preachy and intrusively so. Ian Fleming would have loving descriptions of torture and also of interesting facts, but was rather weak in the latter, and quite offhand in the science. Rudy Mazzocchi combines the features of both in having over the top villains reminiscent of Dr. No, combined with intriguing and well fleshed out scientific nuggets that have potentially serious social consequences, but keeps the preachiness out of his story telling. This makes for good storytelling for "warm blooded heterosexuals in trains, planes, and buses" (as Fleming described his books -- well we can omit the sexual orientation in today's world) and promises well for his coming book. I look forward to hearing more about Roman Citrano (the quite un-James Bond like hero of his stories) and his life's development as well.

We open with medical clinical trials going on overseas. These are not going as we would hope with everyone responding in the best of health. Instead hope is trying to find a way into helping Alzheimer patients. From here we continue on the path of hope that slowly ebbs away to a building fear. Fear that can turn one from morality to money hungry. Fear that builds when we see that in truth it could happen. It...control....of pain and fear. But who would hold the right to control you?

Last year I had the privilege of getting to read the first book by Rudy A. Mazzocchi, Equity of Evil. Well as luck has it, Rudy's second book Equity of Fear is now in my hands. Yeah your right, these are on my special shelf. So let me tell you if his second book is able to measure up to the first. Rudy, you did it again! You made me stay up all night. (Well til 3 a.m. and that is late enough.) I am caught up once again. Oh and of course, now I have to wait for the third book. Okay...holding breath now!

After reading Mr. Mazzocchi's excellent first novel, Equity of Evil, I was certain there could be nothing worse than organ trafficking, esp. as an offshoot of the abortion mill. I was wrong. This one is even scarier than the first, in a very different way. Try as I might to pretend it was simple fantasy, I was convinced at the end that these things are real, ongoing in the darker corners of our real world, and they are now. Where is it safe to run anymore?

I particularly like the author's style in limiting the detailed description of his scenes so that I wasn't put off by trying to imagine precisely what he was describing. Instead, he allows his readers to use their own imagination which, in my case, is quite enough. Too often I feel deluged by details presented in such a way that I feel I have to absorb them totally before understanding the story.

I would have to say, despite some hard swallowing and hours of lost sleep, that the book and its presentation fully deserves five stars. Well written, engaging and startling in the extreme. Good job!
