Comfort: !!! This is one of the first things I tell the people who stop me in the store to ask me what the carrier is called. The ergo puts the weight of the baby/toddler on your hips, which is priceless if you are a person with back problems like me. Wearing the ergo doesn’t hurt my back like when I wore the baby carrier I had for my first child (bojrn). When I talk about wearing my babies and toddlers by the way, I’m talking 12+ hours a day a lot of the time. Now that my youngest is a year and a half old, I wear him when we go to stores (saves time to not push a cart/stroller, or chase him around). I wear him to put him to sleep at night, and to keep him out of trouble when my big kids are doing their school work.
Fit: Adjusting the straps on this ergo to go from my husband (5’ 10”) to me (5’ 4”) only takes a minute. I am really happy that the ergo fits us both so we don't need multiple carriers.
Safety: Speaking of how often I wear him, safety is another reason I love this carrier. Not only is the carrier safe when worn as it’s intended, but it keeps my toddler safe and out of trouble at the store, on hikes, during bedtime, when we’re at a park, and other places.
Weight range: I usually use these for my kids up to age 2 when they get a little heavier and want to walk more, but I’ve also worn a 4 or 5 year old a few times. I definitely wear heavy kids on my back, where it just feels like I’m wearing a heavy back back. It’s still surprisingly easy to carry such a heavy child that way (weight goes on your hips!).
Material/construction: I like that the carrier is made from a canvas material, so it’s tough and hasn’t ripped despite the fact that I’ve worn my latest carrier over 2,000 hours (*conservative* estimate assuming I’ve worn him ONLY 6 hours a day in a year, when I often worn him for more than 12 hours a day when he was younger). The only part that has ever worn out for us is the inner soft fabric, which is a thin woven cotton. The friction from almost 2 years of frequent use has left a few holes in that fabric. Because this doesn’t affect the structure of the carrier, this doesn’t bother me.
Care: Our ergos have handled many a poop explosion or spit up mess without a problem. I usually throw it in the wash on cold, put it in the dryer for 15 minutes, and hang to dry. I have to tell you, the hours that the ergo is out of commission while drying are the longest…. :(
Multiple positions: When putting my babies to sleep, I often wear them on my front. The rest of the time, they go on my back. With 4 kids older than my toddler, I need to squat down and help kids with the bathroom, sweep food off the of the floor, load and unload groceries, etc. Having baby on my back is essential to getting everything done while keeping him happy.
Sleeping hood: Speaking of wearing him on my back, he often falls asleep on my back. When he does, I ask someone to pull his hood up, because he hangs his head way back without the support. The sleeping hood is a thin cotton that comfortable and breathable.
Pocket: I pretty much stopped wearing a purse with pocket with this carrier. I can put my wallet and phone in the pocket and it works perfectly. I can also take a diaper, put a few wipes on it, roll up the diaper and stick that in the ergo pocket. That's especially helpful when we are hiking or just can't take a diaper bag.
Overall the ergo is something I (and my mom friends) can't live without. I could not do life with my 5 adventurous kids without the free hands that ergo gives me!

As he has gotten bigger, using the facing-in position has gotten more challenging (at 7 months, he now wants to reach for everything and can tuck his arms out from under the adult's shoulder straps), but he is still very relaxed in public places and stores while using this carrier. It's very comfortable for the parents and easily adjustable to fit either of us (My wife is 5' 3" with a medium build and I am 6' 2" with a large upper body build). It can get a bit warm for both adult and baby, but it's not uncomfortable or sweaty. The carrier works best with both parents present to help load and unload baby and adjust the straps, but it is doable with just one person (My wife is better at solo carrying than I am!). We have not tried the hip carry position (looks uncomfortable and worse in every way than facing-in position) or the back carry position, but the Ergobaby excels at the facing-in carry.
We actually chose the original over the Ergo 360 because of the clip fastener for the waistband on the Ergo original versus the velcro band on the 360 and because of the slightly higher weight limit on the Ergo original. We wanted the 360 for the facing-out option, but when we were ready to purchase, the 360 had only the velcro waistband, and several reviews of the 360 mentioned that it can be very loud to remove (bad for a sleeping baby!) and can be more difficult for a single user with no help.
We have washed the entire carrier several times, and it has held up very well. This is a great, high-quality baby carrier that is comfortable for baby and adult. We have found that for many baby products, "you get what you pay for" is very true, so we were willing to splurge on this carrier and we are glad we did!
