Large is for L-XL glove size according to manufacturer. Also specified in the instructions is a 22.2 mm handlebar diameter. Truly made by Germans, the max torque for the set screw is permanently labeled on the underside of the grip, and in N-m just like it should be.
Note that they make GP1, GP2, GP3, GP4 (American market only), and GP5, with the increase in the numeric digit corresponding with an increase in the size of the side handle, from non-existent to "five fingers". Does not work with carbon fiber handlebars.
Bottom line - if you need or would like to try bar ends to improve your trail climbing, these are great. If you need comfortable grips, these are great as well. If you're experiencing numbness, these may help, depending upon the the cause. I'd absolutely buy another pair, even thought they didn't help with the numbness for me.
The grips themselves were very comfortable as one would expect from Ergon. What I didn't like was the small size of the barend. There just isn't enough there to grip onto in any way. Maybe someone with little baby hands could grab them comfortably but someone with normal sized hands is just not going to find enough there.
I put them on my wifes cruiser and got the GC3 that I am very happy with
Sept 09, well I've used them some more and continue to marvel at the design and comfort. I'm planning to buy a urban bike and will be getting a set for that too. Excellent just excellent. Well done Ergon and thank you Amazon
Dec 06. I continue to be amazed at the difference these have made to my riding experience. not only have my hands benefitted, my back too is less strained. I have made no other changes to the bike so can safely say the Kudos is to Ergon ( and maybe a slight improvement to my own fitness). an amazingly well researched design and product. WOW
