The design of the grips is great and they feel great when you ride. But, as some others have pointed out, the screws have a tendency to break when you tighten them in position - even if you do not overtighten. In that one respect, the grips are not well made. And, if you break the screw, you ruin the grip and have wasted your money. It is too bad that such a great product has one little flaw that ruins the whole buying experience. And, by the way, if you break the screw, don't expect to get your money back.

I am 67, weight 240, arthritic, have had a total knee reeplacement and ride on average 25 miles 3 - 4 hour rides per day. I still do 65 milers. These 3 - 4 hour rides are extremely hard on my wrists. More than any other equipment on my bikes the ergon grips give me the most relief allowing longer rides. I like the side grip which allows me change grip position. These grips aborb some of the shocks and provide some comfort to an old rider keeping him in the saddle longer.

Despite what seems like a fairly high price tag for handlebar grips, these clearly are excellent grips and have made an extreme difference in comfort on my bike. The bullhorns look sort of cool, although the palm pads may be just a little large to look streamlined (although the comfort factor is what matters here). It's very nice being able to rest your hands in multiple positions, although the brakes are obviously not accessible from all positions.

Large is for L-XL glove size according to manufacturer. Also specified in the instructions is a 22.2 mm handlebar diameter. Truly made by Germans, the max torque for the set screw is permanently labeled on the underside of the grip, and in N-m just like it should be.

Note that they make GP1, GP2, GP3, GP4 (American market only), and GP5, with the increase in the numeric digit corresponding with an increase in the size of the side handle, from non-existent to "five fingers". Does not work with carbon fiber handlebars.

I bought these grips because they said that it could reduce the pain in my wrists because of their ability to align your wrists in the proper position. I found that they made the pain worse by using them. Also, they screws that are used to hold them on the handle bars are very weak. I was tightening one, after it came loose on my ride, and with just a small amount of pressure the screw broke. Now there is part of the screw stuck inside of it and I can not reach it to get it out. Now I have a pair of $50 grips that I can not use. This is very disappointing because I really wanted to see if I could get them to help by adjusting the position.

I recently moved from the hardtail that I'd been riding for nearly 20 years to a full-suspension mountain bike. The first time I took the bike out, I couldn't make any of the trail climbs I normally make with ease - the back tire kept slipping. I assumed it was the suspension, so I tried locking out the rear suspension, the front suspension, and both at the same time with no improvement. At that point, I began to suspect that the issue was the lack of bar ends, which I've always used. I've also experienced numbness in my hands while riding, so I thought I'd pick up a pair of these to see if I could kill two birds with one stone. The grips are the most comfortable I've ever used, but they didn't have much affect, if any, on the numbness, but the bar ends transformed my climbing - I'm now able to get up those climbs again with no loss of traction. The subtle change in hand position allows me to pull backward a lot harder with each pedal stroke, which drives the rear wheel down. It also allows me to lower my torso so I can put more weight on the front wheel while still keeping my butt in the saddle. The bar ends also more comfortable than the old, long aluminum 'antlers' that I had been using and a they're a lot more stylish too.

Bottom line - if you need or would like to try bar ends to improve your trail climbing, these are great. If you need comfortable grips, these are great as well. If you're experiencing numbness, these may help, depending upon the the cause. I'd absolutely buy another pair, even thought they didn't help with the numbness for me.

The grip is extremely comfortable and allows several positions which really help in long rides. The numbness I used to feel in my hands simply disappeared!

This grip feels great. It was easy to install and the side grips are large enough to not feel cramped but small enough that they are not bulky. Side grips can also be adjusted independently of the main grips.

I've used these on my flat bar hybrid for commuting and longer rides. They provide a comfortable and sure grip and offer a couple different positions. The only time I've had any discomfort was on day two of a 180km ride. Installing is pretty simple, with only clamping at the end I was concerned about them rotating or twisting but after 1700km they haven't budged.
