Upon receiving and trying out the wired version for first time today, my first realization of a problem was the placement of the USB cord. It's exactly where my pinky finger wants to rest and would have, otherwise, comfortably extended across the bottom of the mouse. Unfortunately, due to the poor design, my pinky finger is impeded by the the cord extending out from the front of this mouse. This subtle impediment translates to continued irritation to my hand and wrist. This is a real problem.
I understand that you want to accommodate both right and left handed people with a single mouse, so you chose a front and center placement, but this creates a major ergonomic problem . You should have made separate right and left handed versions with the USB cord extending from the left and right side of the mouse, respectively.
Now I'm stuck with this mouse after paying a premium price and still cannot find relief for my hand and wrist pain.
Very disappointed, if I could try out the wireless version to ensure no complications with my wi-fi then I would gladly rate this a 4 or 5 star mouse for the precision and overall quality it offers.
-Very well designed ergonomically speaking. Light in weight, so it is easy to move around, and I hardly notice any pain or strain even when using for a while. Going vertical makes a big difference. I have another 'ergonomic' mouse at work that is at a higher angle than normal mice, but it basically just causes many of the same issues, due to putting your wrist in the same horizontal position relative to the desk. This mouse eliminates those issues, and is ambidextrous and easy to use as well, once you've become accustomed to the orientation of it and moving the cursor around differently.
-Great tracking and accuracy. Never had a problem with accuracy on this mouse and I love the ability to set higher DPI's. Always clicks where I want it to.
The Cons are basically all related to build quality. It manifested in several issues (have had the mouse for a little over a year):
-USB cable feels stiff and cheap. It developed some kind of disconnect/short in the area where it attaches to the base of the mouse. Now if I bump into the cable slightly, or hold it off to the side a bit, the mouse completely loses connection to the computer.
-Double clicking! This has gotten worse recently and is the most frustrating issue. Clicks are either not registering at all, registering normally, or registering as a double click.
-The rest of the mouse's exterior is also a bit disappointing as far as build quality goes. The little 'DXT' logo sticker on the rear side starts to come off sometimes, and the materials/plastic the mouse is made out of leave something to be desired.
1. The internal switches are omron "D2FC-F-7N" made in China. I always change out my mouse switches to Omron Japanese version "D2F-01F-T". The Jap version feels like they actuates faster even though they both supposed to have the same force required.
2. Being that this mouse is supposed to be better for the fingers as well I wished they have a middle click button instead of a scroll wheel doubling as a button. Scroll wheel as a button is painful to press and I have to use middle mouse click alot in CAD/3D applications for work. The scroll wheel is using a different kind of internal switch which feels harder to press as well. I feel normal button like the left and right click are generally easier to press they are flat/big so don't poke into your fingers and their switches tend to be softer as well.
Maybe Increase the total buttons to 4 ie add 1 smaller button infront of the wheel and another behind so it will work for both right and left hand use.
Still a great mouse though thanks.
