I have used standing "desks" for many years. I put the quotes around "desk" because, until the recent trend toward better ergonomics, I have used home-built / modified tables or prefab workbenches that are my preferred standing height by default (~40"). I decided to try an adjustable desk as I wanted some added flexibility in quickly changing the height. Not so much to go from sitting height to standing height as I use drafting style chairs that allow me to sit at the correct height for my 40" work surfaces. Rather, I wanted to be able to adjust the height range while standing from maybe my typical 40" up to 44 or 45" if I just want to use my laptop without an external keyboard attached where I would often stick a thick book under my laptop to lift it a couple inches.

The ErgoTron WorkFit-D looked like a great solution. At least on paper.

Note: the photo shown with this item both at time of my purchase and when I write this review shows a keyboard tray and monitor arms. Neither are included with this model and that was not noted in the description. Adding those additional items significantly increases the cost. This was strike one against the desk.

The spring lift system is very effective and easy to use. I much preferred this to the powered systems I have seen for simplicity and cost. The top does quickly go from one height to another.

The work surface is too unstable. Even at sitting height (30") my monitor would be vibrating as I typed. Now maybe I hit the keys too hard, but I certainly can't be any more aggressive a typist then most other people who work at the computer all day long. Once the table is raised to my standing height of 40" any movement of mouse or typing becomes noticeable movement in the display.

The desk is perfect. I (used to) sit in front of a computer all day then read about the benefits of standing. Now I stand most of the day. You do need a surface to stand on, I ordered an anti-fatigue mat.

On to the desk:

PROS:
#1 build quality is very good. The adjustment is easy and everything feels very solid.
#2 20" of adjustment. Cheaper desks all had less adjustment range, but I needed almost all 20" and I'm not very tall (5'9").
#3 Looks nice in a no-frills modern functional way.
#4 Keyboard attachment (sold separately) is very solidly made, has plenty of adjustment and is more than wide enough for a big keyboard and mouse pad. I use a mouse on one side and track ball on the other to rest my shoulders. There is enough room for this.
#5 Assembly was very well thought out with every part in separate clearly labeled compartments of the plastic bags.
#6 Well packaged to avoid damage in transit

CONS:
None that are significant
#1 With the keyboard attachment it does feel just a little wobbly at full height, but it's not significant and there is no way it would tip, even if I push down hard on the keyboard attachment.
#2 Some of the bolt holes were poorly tapped so it felt like you had the screws cross-threaded at first.

The main issue if any with this desk is the slight tilt of the desktop. It's not for holding items which may roll. It is fairly sturdy and very adjustable. So far there are no issues with it. The keyboard addon is another matter.

Desk is very easy to build and solid throughout. Adjustment allows me to sit on the floor, in an office chair or stand on my feet. Whatever your work mood is, this table adapts to you. Let the creative juice flow!
