Top Customer Reviews
Hardware is rock solid. I have a big stand and two 24" monitors, and the desk is still very steady when all the way up. Moving the desk down is easy and smooth, just use the desk pedal and down it goes, using progressive braking. Moving up with all that weight I put on requires my help but it's a reasonable effort. I'd say it feels like lifting 10 pounds. The highest position is more than I need. I'm 6.2" and I still don't use the whole range.
I have added the keyboard from the same brand and it's a great piece of hardware as well.
Got the desk a few days ago and my routine seems to be desk down until early PM, then desk up. The stand up position helps me to stay more alert and focused.
I had to buy 10 ft cables for monitors. You might want to do that up front.
This is my first experience with a stand up desk and I love it.
(I also put the 4 stop screws in the allen wrench baggie and taped it to the side so we don't lose them.)
I do agree with Gub regarding the welds...those are some ugly welds! No evidence of cracking or inclusions so it is doubtful that it will have any effect during the lifespan of the product.
Would be five stars if the desk lowered about three more inches than the current minimum.
This is our 4th Ergotron product (two monitor arms, a sit-to-stand "clamp-on" workstation, and this desk). Ergotron, you got some quality control issues you need to fix. The monitor arms worked fine. The clamp-on workstation never did detension enough to stay in the down position -- and between your "I only do this on weekends and don't know how to help you" and the snarky "you must not be turning the screw counter-clockwise" hot-line helpers, the solution ended up being cutting a piece of 1/8" x 5" wooden shims to get your product to work right.
My wife's a regional ergo tech for a hospital chain in the NW. After two-for-two sit-to-stand fiascos, guess who's products will be last on the list for procurement consideration?
Being able to raise your whole work surface up is very nice - especially when you're working on a combination of paper materials and a computer. It's very easy to raise and lower, and assembly took less than an hour.
The main drawback is the price, but it actually seems to be a decent deal relative to most other comparable products on the market. There isn't much along the way of cable management, but I've gotten by with judicious use age of zip-ties around the metal frame. The build quality is sturdy, and I'm quite happy overall.
I think the positive lock when the break is engaged is good, but the desk has to be pushed down just a touch before it settles.
The final complaint although a small one...the finishing welds where the base meets the upright seem a little rough.
The size of the counter top is good enough for a computer with dual monitors a keyboard, a writing pad and a phone.
