"Erica has written an incredible story for children of all ages (and adults!)...it's a story of inspiration and perseverance and proves that you can accomplish your dreams if you only believe in yourself and be dedicated to your goals. As a fellow swimmer I was touched by this heart warming story." -Rowdy Gaines, IV, U.S. Olympic Hall of Fame Member, 3-time Olympic Gold medalist, Analyst for ESPN and NBC Commentator --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Erica L. Moffett is an award-winning author and she also works as Managing Director at Oppenheimer & Co. Inc. The swim itself is clearly the core of the story and Ms. Moffett’s easy prose and clever imagery combine to foster a truly child-accessible epic journey. The illustrations by Martin Russocki are brilliant and bring her adventure to life visually with vivid full page color and captivating characters. My granddaughter’s favorite character is Erica’s stopwatch companion replete with tiny arms and legs who acts as her conscience, motivation and friend. Honorable mention also goes to the sleeping Spanish bull, fearsome purple sea monster, and gigantic ocean liner – all of which I am required to revisit repeatedly during a single reading!
Much like Ms. Moffett’s inspiration Olivia, we always seem to end up swimming across the living room carpet in tandem with Erica as she conquers the Strait. Our one addition is that we must do in in Mermaid tails … perhaps for Ms. Moffett’s next installment, she can add that to the plot line. “Erica from America” is a pure delight – entertaining empowerment not only for little girls but for little boys too.
But, also, Erica is from "EVERYWHERE!"
