About Erik Gustafson
I spent 20 years serving in the United States Air Force, and have had the fortune to live all over the world, including Iceland, Germany, and in a tent for a year in Saudi Arabia.
Always an artist at heart, I produced many paintings during my adventures. After my service, I settled down with my family (wife, two great daughters, 2 cats and a little white fluff dog) in small town Iowa, where I love to volunteer at the antique carousel. Now, I am the clinical manager of a children's psychiatric residential facility and teach psychology classes at a local college.
I switched from a paint brush to a pen and am now a dark fantasy and horror writer, by night.
I am working on my forth novel. I have been published in The Horror Zine, Horrified Press, Sirens Call Publications, Pleasant Storm Entertainment, Crypto and Co., Death Throes Webzine, and several other horror anthologies.
Escape from your reality for a bit and get scared. It feels good.

Blog postLoved this book I wrote a couple years back. Wish it got more traction, but it was fun to write and create the world the story unfolds in.

"We think a monster can at least be killed; it's flesh and blood.
Therefore it can die.
If it doesn't die, it will always be there—lurking in our shadows."
Dangers Untold isn’t your normal horror anthology; not a vampire, zombie or werewolf to be found. Filled with unusual monsters and unexpected terror, Dangers Untold is a series of seventeen short stories from horror industry professionals who have a different take on what makes for good horror. From a legend come true to hidden artifacts in the ice to a child’s playmate, these tales will creep in through the cracks when you aren’t looking to linger in your mind long after you have closed the book. Keep the lights on because you’re about to read Dangers Untold.
This anthology, presented by The Horror Society and edited by award-winning editor Jennifer Brozek, Dangers Untold features stories by Gary Braunbeck, Erik Scott de Bie, Jason V Brock, Lillian Cohen-Moore, Nathan Crowder, and Ryan Macklin. Cover art by Shane Tyree.

"Come into our society. We promise, you won't want to leave.
Every town across the globe has a horrific tale, whether it is current news or folklore passed down generation to generation. These stories shock and dismay the residents of these communities, leaving them afraid to turn off the lights and go to sleep. The average person tries their best to forget about the darkest evil that lurks outside, in the abandoned building down the street, and in the depths of their own imagination.
We, on the other hand, invite the darkness. For this is our community, our Horror Society, where your neighbor has more than secrets buried in the back yard. Where blood curdling screams replace friendly banter. Where the terror that awaits you is far worse than you originally thought. And you will never know which breath will be your last."
Horror Society Stories Volume 1 is an anthology book of short stories, hand picked by Michael DeFellipo after a world wide call for entries. Ten terrifying tales pieced together to make one Hell of a crazy, blood splattering read!
Barbie Wilde, author of The Venus Complex calls it, "A tasty cocktail of horror that will keep you glued to the page."
Horror Society Stories Volume 1 was published by Shillow Productions in association with Horror Society and CreateSpace. HorrorSociety.com is an award winning, world recognized website specializing in independent horror culture. The site is ran by Mitchell D. Wells, with Michael DeFellipo and other contributors.

Cellar Door... Linguists call it the most beautiful phrase in the English language based solely on the way it sounds. But as you can imagine, what it represents may be something far more sinister. In a spectacular display of poetry, artwork, fiction, and photography, the talent of fifty contributors is showcased within these pages. Voices from behind cellar doors all over the world come together in unison to whisper in your ear...can you hear them? Are they knocking on your cellar door? Edited by Shawna L. Bernard, each piece in this anthology has a beautiful title intrinsically connected to the tale that follows, and a door will be the common theme which connects the widely varied styles, genres, and stories told. Will you take your chances and find what's lurking behind your cellar door?

The Blood Knows

This short story was published by Visionary Press.
Alice spent her birthday crying and angry. Betrayed by those closest to her, she drove until her gas light came on. She doesn’t know where she is. …but the blood knows.
Revenge is sweet, but sometimes it is most foul. The cost of revenge in this tale may be too high, but vengeance will be served.
What people are saying about his work:
"Mr. Gustafson, has a way with throwing a good scare your way, leaving you with an increased heart rate and a "what the" on your lips."
"You won't be disappointed!"
