I switched to .009 strings at the recommendation of my guitar teacher. I've learned the hard way to keep extra "E" strings because these thinner strings break rather often if you are wailing away on the guitar.

I've used Ernie Ball's as long as I've played guitar. I like the strings, but I received 3 packs of a batch of 9-42s from another vendor (as anyone who plays knows, the strings are sealed from the factory) By the time I got around to using them, (I stopped playing for a few months) I noticed the B strings- 2nd string, std. tuning- are dotted with rust/pits. One can grasp the B string between one's thumb and forefinger's nail and while "running" down/up the string, feel the rust spots/pitting.
So, as I use the strings for practice, I broke into the other packs and used 2 nines at the high-e, and B strings. Obviously, this purchase replaces the extra strings I used.

The Ernie Balls, especially these plain sets, unravel on me FROM THE BALL END when you use them the first time of tuning up. It has happened to me over and over again. It is the way they are finished at the ends. This has been happening to me whether I buy them through Amazon or the Guitar Center. They start slipping and detuning and eventually pull out or break. They also break easily if they don't have the unravelling problem. This will happen one or two times a six-pack. It also happens on regular sets. I won't buy Ernie Balls anymore.

Switched to buy EB's bulk singles. Others don't seem to last as long. I DO have a tendency to abuse the high "E" so I replace a lot of these. Ernie Ball's cost a little bit more, but the difference is negligible, They seem to put up with a lot more man-handling, without breaking. So in the long run, I save money. I appreciate the quality.

I'm a big fan of the EB super slinkies... but have a tendency to snap the high e's. I suspect I'm not alone on this score. Purchasing just the string that keeps breaking saves me a ton of money and unnecessary string changes. Highly recommend.

Great deal that saved me the time of going to the store. The high E breaks sooner than any of the other strings so getting a whole package of them was terrific. They got here on time and the price was very reasonable.

Very good strings! When ordering order from musicians friend because they give you the 6 pack of strings rather then music123 which only give you 1 string.

I like Ernie Ball strings, but what you are buying here is only 1 string, not a 6 pack. I let Music123 know and they said that I only bought 1 string. No kidding?... My question to them is what does "6 pack" mean. They say they are not responsible for typographical errors in pricing or product specification inaccuracies in their catalog or web site. I guess it's just buyer beware.
