About the author

Robin Koontz has been writing and illustrating books for children since 1986. Her critically acclaimed publications include activity and novelty books, early readers, picture books, nonfiction for all ages, short stories for middle-grade readers, magazine articles, and classroom supplemental materials. One of her books, Amazing Animal Skills: Leaps and Creeps, was a finalist for the 2012 Animal Behavior Society's Outstanding Children's Book Award. What's the Difference Between a Butterfly and a Moth was an International Reading Association Teachers Choice Award in 2010.
Robin spends her working hours writing about whatever she finds interesting, which is just about everything. In recent months she worked on a picture book about bird sounds, six-book series called Nature-Inspired Innovations as well as two books in a series called Natural Laboratories: Scientists in National Parks. Robin also writes blogs for herself and her partner, Wildcat Man. They live in the wilds of western Oregon.
