About the Author
Graduating from Haddonfield high school in 1974, I saw a distinct difference between what was taught and what was needed in order to survive in the real world. Coming from a family with problems, I had little time to study history, French, advanced math, physics or dissecting frogs. Always the physical type, I was busy cleaning buildings at night, fixing cars, working on houses, riding my motorcycle, rebuilding printing presses for my business and playing in my band. I always said, learning about some guy who crossed the Delaware River in history, had no use to me if my car or my house was broken. Paying the experts was expensive. But now I was one of those "experts". The practical applications of living were missing from the prioritized academic agenda of the school. It was a great school, but a school that did not fit into my schedule. Working until 3 in the morning, then getting up to be at school by 8 AM left little time for study or sleep. Whenever I wan't prepared for an upcoming test, I would usually cut school, go to the Cherry Hill library and study. It was the only time I could find to study. Little did I know, my challenges would pale in comparison to what was ahead of me. The skills I learned, would soon become my survival guide. They were the skills I needed to build, develop and invent, the impossible solutions, I needed to survive, the unsurvivable challenges, I would soon be facing. Escape from Destiny talks about my childhood, my life, and my drastic changes in my life through the first 15 years after breaking my neck. 40 years later, I am as diversified as I was in the beginning, but in another direction, I never saw comingin.
