Unfortunately, I can't recommend purchasing this book. Unlike some of the other reviewers, I had to fight to actually get through the story. In fact, with the exception of the epilogue, it felt much more like a first book. It contained many inconsistencies and jumps between constant action.
Even this I could have ignored, but the dialog and inner monologue I enjoyed through the last four books just wasn't there. What it really came down to is that I wasn't convinced that the characters were actually acting on their motivations. Instead it felt like they were doing what was necessary to get Anya where she needed to go.
One of two things likely happened here. Either this was a previously written story that the author wanted to use the character from and skipped using good editors or pre-readers to point out some of the issues, or they were trying to get this story out too quickly and again skipped using good editors or pre-readers.
I really hope it was the first of these options and not the second, as I've enjoyed the series and have been looking forward to the next stories!
If you read this, please take your time and don't publish your stories based on deadlines (self-imposed or otherwise). I have pre-ordered book 5, but if it is more like this one rather than 1-4, then I won't be doing that for further stories. I really want you to support you going forward.
