I was amazed at this book. There is a very soothing sense of comfort that she brings. The truth is, we are addicted to negatively, it's not that we can't stop thinking negative thoughts, but we're afraid to live without them. That's the overall message from the book. We can believe whatever we want to believe. So why not develop a positive perception of beliefs instead. Reality is not what happens to us, but what we believe.

- Reviewed in the United States on May 23, 2018I love this book! I will be reading it again. The concepts make sense and are easy to consider. It’s easy to fall back into old patterns though. Reading over and over is the key. But that’s okay because while reading it, it makes you feel good.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 18, 2019I am not depressed but I study psychology and I found this book to be fantastic. It is definitely spiritual and not scientific which I actually prefer. This book is geared towards the more conscious, enlightened reader ... the kind of people who want to take charge of their own lives, and not leave it in the hands of some doctor or some prescription pills. I would recommend this book. I can see it being extremely helpful to anyone suffering, or just anyone at all for that matter.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 17, 2016Everyone can and will benefit from this book, whether you or someone you love carries the label of "depressed" or not this work will help shed light into your life in surprisingly insightful and useful ways. Honestly, in my opinion , everyone should read this through at least once!

I have read many self help books and this has to be one of the best. Though it contains a number of typos and punctuation / spelling errors (it could do with a good editing) , I am prepared to overlook this due to its content which I found to be a real revelation. The message is simple but profound: depression is the body's natural coping mechanism to chronic worry and negative thinking. This gives hope to the reader that depression can be overcome by changing our negative thinking patterns. We have control. From reading this book, I have witnessed an amazing turnaround in my mood and feel much better equipped to deal with setbacks. Very strongly recommended. Thank you.
TaraReviewed in Germany on March 4, 20165.0 out of 5 stars very helpful knowledge
this is a real helpful book, i bought it because it sums up the deepest blocks which hide us from our dreams and happiness. there are a lot of techniques to get rid of blocking and devastating beliefs and change them into through more helpful and positive beliefs. you also get 22 secrets to discover your power and the access to videos with meditation to release disempowering programs of unworthiness, powerlessness and victimhood, while activating the knowing of your intrinsic power, unconditional worth and your ability to consciously create the life you desire.
i appreaciate that nanice is so generous and you really feel that she wants to share her knowledge with you to help you to change your live into something better. thank you nanice

This is one of the best truest books written!
Josh You AREReviewed in the United Kingdom on June 24, 20174.0 out of 5 stars On the whole utterly superb with some clear revelations missing from other books!
I am extremely impressed at some of the insights into depression written here. Perhaps they are not obvious to me but linking depression to lack of self expression (for instance) was a revelation as was the idea that depression is made up of a combination of four core dis-empowering beliefs about worthiness, powerlessness, victim-hood and loss (less convinced by the last one). It could be that I was ready for Nanice's ideas and that's why they are so powerful but I really can recommend the book as an explanatory model. Not so much for the practicals - I already have a good set of techniques: the meta-model questions, ecology checking questions, Meta-Yes,Meta-No Belief Change, principles of Koryzybski about the map and the territory and others covered in my book Your Mind is a Liar. I do question some of the spiritual beliefs she put in there - we chose our parents (even if abusive) before we were born - really? Were you there? Try telling that to someone who has been almost ruined by wicked parents they 'chose' from the spiritual dimension - please!!! But if you avoid the very small amounts of tosh, this is a super book and for the price, unmissable.

I think the idea behind negative thinking & depression is spot on in my case anyway! the rest of the book did not really have the same effect.. some of Nanices ideas such as children being allowed to express them selves freely & even opt out of any type of education would be fine is some sort of utopian world but we are in this physical existence for a reason & unfortunately we need to play by the rules that are prevalent at the time we are here..
I Think this is important
Reject every negative thought when it first appears in your mind
You know those negative thoughts that you say are tormenting you? The ones that you claim you can’t get free from? You could seriously damage them by discovering and doing one thing: reject them when they first enter your mind because THAT is when they are at their weakest!
All you have to do is train yourself to inspect the thoughts that enter your mind, and if any thought doesn’t pass inspection, throw it out! At that point, it’ll be too weak take up residence in your head!
