It is truly an honor to write this review for this impeccable work by Olga Nunez Miret.

I believe it is important to know that this is in no way an exaggeration - she truly is an artist/writer of the highest caliber, and Escaping Psychiatry is splendidly consistent with this level of artistry.

Please know I do not say this lightly - with this book, Olga has offered us a work which is impeccably written, quintessentially resplendent, and with a powerful, deeply moving message...so much so that I (humbly and respectfully) believe it is important to say that she has truly made the world a better place through her splendid effort. Through the genuinely interesting characters in her book, Olga weaves a so quite spellbinding study into the dynamics of life. Once one begins reading, it really truly IS difficult to put down. – Dr. Glen Hepker (author of “A Glimpse of Heaven: The Philosophy of True Health)

I like these three stories. Each of them centers around the work and life of a woman psychiatrist and writer, and the work she does, some of it dangerous, as she works with the police in solving crimes. I would give the book 5 stars except for this: the author ought to have used American idioms, and not British ones. Here are some examples. "Mum" in American English is "mom;" "mum" means "don't say anything about . . ." "Mummy" -suffice it to say that in American English, it refers to an old body wrapped in cloths and buried in a tomb. In the third story, there is an important location, "Dakota," that leaves me puzzled. Does the author mean North Dakota or South Dakota? There is no place that I know of named "Dakota.' The word "boot" in American English refers to footwear, not the trunk of a car. A little more research would fix that. The other problem is too many typos.

Aside from these things, the book is a very enjoyable read. I will read more of her books.

'Escaping Psychiatry' comprises three novellas charting the adventures of Mary, a reluctant psychiatrist.

I read the first two stories in the collection - 'Cannon Fodder' and 'Teamwork' - when they were published separately, and gave them both five stars. I was accordingly very happy to see the trilogy published in a single volume and to be able to devour the third part of the trilogy, 'Memory', which is a much more personal tale, and the threat component is closer to home.

Olga Nunez Miret writes with a fine eye for the minutiae of human motivations and interactions. I, for one, hope this is not the last we have seen of the author's central character, the reluctant psychiatrist, Mary. She deserves more outings than a paltry three.

Grab a copy soon and enjoy some interesting journeys into the psyche. 'The Man Who Never Was' - a full-length novel by the same author - is very firmly on my To Read list.

It takes an expert to get into and describe the mind of a seriously disturbed individual as well as it is done in this book. Olga is clearly an expert in the field. Hang on and enjoy the ride.
