Amy Benson is alone. Even in a room full of people. She is running from something we really don't know, and the mystery keeps you guessing. She makes an emergency move to another state and meets Liam in the process. He immediately inserts himself into her new life, leaving Amy with mixed emotions and decisions to make. Does she let herself feel something real or does she protect herself, and Liam, by denying herself what she's never had - a connection with another person that goes beyond lies and secrets.
Liam Stone is bossy, mysterious, and sex-on-a-stick. His charisma jumps off the page and makes you want to do naughty things to him. You're probably going to need a cold shower at some point during this book because he will light you up like it's the 4th of July. But, Liam just isn't sex-on-a-stick. The man has his own secrets and is a bit dark and mysterious. Just when you think you've figured him out - WHAMO - you get knocked for the mother of all loops!
I've been assured that the sequel is being written as we speak... It's a good thing - because I don't want to hurt someone to find out what the heck happens! Lisa Renee Jones has taken the New Adult genre and given it a sizzle that makes this book memorable and unique.
My rating: 5 you will need a cold shower and a new pair of panty stars!
BUT, I have to say I'm glad I read it, and I will be eagerly awaiting the next book! The mystery and twists & turns this book takes are absolutely fabulous. I can't wait to read the next one and see if my guess is right. Now to just speed time or jump into the future and read that book. AH!
IMO, this book is 2 parts sex and 1 part mystery. I could actually use way less sex in my reading (so if you read this and have suggestions for me, I would love them!). I was nervous it was taking a 50 Shades of Grey turn there for a bit, but turned out much milder than that. ;) But the mystery part? Oh that completely hooked me in. You're wondering who is Amy? What happened in her past? Who is Liam? Can she trust him? Can she trust a.n.y.o.n.e. around her?
Liam.... oh Liam. If you like a man that takes charge, gets easily jealous, and drags his woman around cave-man style ( <cough> I do <cough> ) then you will love Liam. If you hate a dominate man then you may want to skip this one. ;) Although I have to say, if you love a strong independent leading female then you'd love Amy... and how she handles Mr.Over-bearing. (It almost hurts to call him that, I love him so).
So if you hate cliffhangers, then wait until the next one(s) is(are) out and then snatch those books up quick. I'm hoping that next book will be worth the wait!
Lara has been in hiding for a long time. For the past 6 years everything has appeared to be okay. She's been Amy for a long time and has allowed herself to believe that she has been forgotten and there is no more danger. Amy has a job at a museum and is happy and content in her new life. That is until one night at a party a note of the mirror from a man she's only met once turns her entire world upside-down and sends her back on the run. She has no reason to fear her handler, he saved her once. So with only the items he has instructed her to take from a locker in the airport she leaves New York to head for Denver with her new name Amy Benson.
There waiting in the airport she spots a man who makes her forget everything around her and ends up sitting next to him on the plane. His name, Liam Stone. Liam is a billionaire architect prodigy who goes after what he wants and doesn't stop until he gets it. In the short flight, Amy feels a growing attachment to Liam, an attachment that frightens her and makes her want to run the other way. But when they exit the airport Liam finds her and escorts her to her new apartment sweeping her up into a passionate affair that makes her forget everything but him. She tries to run away from him because she doesn't want whoever is following her to kill Liam. They've killed everyone she has ever loved, leaving her with on one to rely on but her handler and herself. But try as she might she can't seem to let him go. He's passionate, dominating, and the prince charming she has been searching for. Giving her more than she's ever expected or allowed herself to hope for.
But while that part of her life seems to be perfect, everything else seems to be going downhill. She can't shake the feeling that she's being watched. She hasn't felt that in a long time and it's not an easy feeling to shake. On top of that, the handler sent her to a leasing office that turns out to be a law office to drop off leasing paperwork and is given a packet with what appears to be her "new job". But the more Amy digs into the information she's given the more it starts to not make sense and Amy is left not knowing what to think or believe. She hasn't heard from her handler and she's not sure who she can trust anymore. Then there's Jared. Jared is her neighbor across the hall. He seems familiar to her she can't put her finger on why, make matters worse he appears to have ties to Texas where Lara is from. Amy's world begins to crumble around her with the memories of her past slowly starting to surface causing her blackouts to resurface after years of not having them. Time is running out and Amy knows she must start to rely on herself and depend on Liam, but when something comes to light about Liam, what will happen to Amy?
The ending of this book had my mouth hanging open. I didn't see it coming, so when it happened I seriously sat there and stared at my screen for a good twenty minutes before I got up to start my review. This book was brilliant and kept me guessing at every turn and I cannot wait for the next book to see what happens. I don't want to wait, I want more of Amy and Liam now, but I know the wait will be well worth it. Well done Lisa, 5 brilliant stars!
