The Espoma is granulated/pelletized...so it is very easy to use without the risk of inhaling a powder. I too could not find it locally anywhere...once again Amazon saved the day. Very fair price and Prime shipping. This bag will last many seasons.
A good rule to remember when considering NPK needs for plants is:
UP nitrogen (N) for top growth,
DOWN phosphorus (P) for root growth
ALL AROUND potassium (K) for all around health.
So in this case phosphate (P) is for establishing root growth in my seedlings. I add 1 tablespoon in the hole when I transplant. I still have about 1/4 bag left, enough for this season. I will definitely be getting another bag soon.
