Perfect for a while, but got almost impossible to pull the plunger out to empty and clean it

Perfect for a few months, but I can't use it any more and I'm shopping again. This design was a brilliant solution for work, since I moved around and couldn't take time to use a regular coffee press. And it kept my coffee hot for so long, I could pour it before my shift and as long as the cap was on it stayed hot until I wanted to drink it a couple hours later. Plus it didn't leak at all.

But after a while all the gaskets expanded or something and it got really hard and messy to use, then impossible. It was harder and harder to press down the plunger when the coffee was ready. Then *really* hard to pull the plunger out to empty and clean it. I had to use so much pressure pulling it out that it would suddenly release and fly out, flinging wet coffee all over the place--super fun when I'm using this to be quick and discrete at work. It's hard to get a good grip on the lid, too, to get enough leverage for that, so it hurt my fingers and became totally frustrating and stressful. Sometimes the lid (not the cap, the sipping lid) was impossible to unscrew without running hot water over it. I sometimes asked someone stronger than me to try to get the lid off, or work the plunger out, but I mean, how workable is it to go looking for stronger and stronger coworkers to frustrate with my coffee mug??

That's way too much trouble, and I'm looking once again for a solution to make coffee at work simple and easy.

I wanted to love this product but I just can't. It has a beautiful design and when you do use the paper filter too, it does produce a smoother cup of coffee. So why the one star? Because of the rubber gasket used for the filter. This gasket even after 50+ cups of coffee gives the coffee a really nasty coffee taste and ruins the experience. Quite frankly it makes the coffee taste disgusting. I've done blind taste tests with people using coffee brewed in this cup and coffee brewed in a standard French press and everyone always remarks on how awful tasting the coffee is from the Espro Travel Press.

Because of this I'm back to brewing my coffee in a regular french press and pouring it into another aluminum to go cup. I'd give it a negative 5 stars if I could. That's how important taste is to me.

I don't recommend anyone buy this product unless they change the gasket. Why pay so much for a press only to have the taste ruined.

I bought this to use at work, considering the only other french press I have is a 32oz Bodum which just seems a little excessive for personal use at work.

First off this is a great french press if you like your coffee black or sweetened. Not great if you need to add cream and not great if you're looking for a french press to bring on a car trip. Personally I don't put cream in my coffee so that's not a concern. The complaints that you can't put sugar in it after it's brewed, just put it in with the grounds. No big deal.

It would be nice if the second lid (the one that makes it spill proof) had some way to allow you to drink from it but hey it's the first run of the product. I wouldn't be surprised that if they're successful enough and can maintain the company, they'll release an updated version from the feedback of their customers.

My only gripe, which is minor is that I'd like it to be a little larger to meet a more standard size (closer to 16 oz or so, preferably a little larger to accommodate for the added volume taken by the grounds).

Otherwise it definitely keeps the coffee good and hot, it is easy to drink from (when not in motion or when not needing to constantly place and removing the second lid), and makes a damn fine cup of coffee that is very well filtered.

I initially gave this very good looking product 5 stars because it worked so well. I never drink out of it; I use a mug. I decided not to put the plastic pieces in the dishwasher; I always rinse them out well and let them dry on the rack. Still, after using it for several weeks, I noticed it became tough to push the plunger down and I often get grinds in my drink.

I absolutely love this portable french press. I bought it for my husband who likes to take his french press when we have an overnight at my parents' or when we take a road trip. First thing that happened was that the plunger unscrewed from the baskets and they were stuck in the bottom. We managed to screw it back in and pull it out - and this was before making any coffee yet! I hope that doesn't continue to happen. The whole point of this was so my husband could make a quick cup for the road or at someone else's house and not have to go find a place to throw a bunch of grounds from his french press and then have a plastic bag with a wet french press in it rolling around the back seat. So YES it does give us a better option. The little bit of grounds stays in the bottom to be cleaned later. Brilliant! The first time he used it he decided to sip a little and see how long it stayed hot. It stayed REALLY burning hot for an hour and good-and-hot for another hour. It was still warm at the end of the day - yes, he's an extreme experimenter. The main drawback is size. IT'S WAY TOO SMALL! Can you please, pretty please make a 16-20 oz. size? If it's being used for travel, then I can attest to the fact that a 10 oz. cup of coffee isn't going to satisfy anyone. Also the rubbery seals on the basket look very delicate. I am worried they will tear easily and ruin the seal, but only time will tell. Other than that, we like it very much. PS: Do not brew your grounds for 4 minutes as per the directions or you'll have the most bitter coffee ever. I have no idea why they recommend that. Less than a minute is enough for french pressed coffee.

I had been after a travel coffee press for a while and do really like this. It keeps the coffee really warm for a good few hours (though it rarely lasts me 20mins before needing a caffeine fix).

The filter is easy to clean and I don't often use the filter papers which are included, I find it filters just fine as is.

The only downside (which isn't the fault of the product I suppose just the nature of this type of press) is that the granules get very compacted at the bottom. This just makes cleaning a bit difficult on the road and usually involves a fork or spoon giving it a good dig around.

This is a very nearly perfect travel press which is leak proof and keeps coffees warm for a couple of hours (havent tested further than a couple). I also find it easy to clean and disassemble. As with some other reviewers I have had issues with the lid being very hard to get off due to the vacuum seal caused by the cooling coffee. This is testament to the really good vacuum seal and leak proof abilities though.

The only other downside is that unlike the rest of the flask the lid is made from a cheaper plastic and then covered in the same matte material. Within two weeks of purchasing, it toppled on a marble surface with the lid breaking. Customer service was fantastic though and were more than happy to send a replacement lid free of charge a couple of days later.

The customer service would encourage me to buy from them in the future.

In so many ways this is a brilliant and much needed product; I can make a large cup of my favourite freshly ground coffee to go; it stays hot for several hours; it is slim, lightweight and attractively designed... but, for me there is one huge drawback which seriously impacts my enjoyment of this otherwise superb integrated cafetière and travel mug... As the coffee cools, even a little, it creates a small vacuum. Although this is testament to the excellent leakproof seal round the lid it means that the lid is extremely difficult to open, and this is compounded by the design which is aesthetically pleasing with its monolithic clean lines, but it leaves you with absolutely nothing to grip hold of. I wrestle with this damned lid every morning when I go to drink my coffee, and every evening when I go to clean it. I have now glued a piece of grippy rubber to the lid. It looks ugly but I am no longer cursing at it twice a day.

I love the design looks great. After owning this for a few weeks now trying different coffees and different measurements of coffee i'm now in love with it. I keeps your drink super hot for a long time. I've tried adding milk into the flask personally it doesn't work but that's fine for me as I enjoy my coffee black most of the time. So now I leave an inch before the top of the coffee line and fill the rest with cold water before pushing the plunger, if not I wouldn't be able to drink this for hours (which is a good thing) as it means it keeps it hot. It hasn't leaked at all i make it up pop the lid on and just chuck it on the side of my forklift for the day and driving round cornering their is not spillage. Cleaning is a super easy process not a pain at all. The only thing i would say is it works super well because of the double filter not residue but i'm not sure it justifies the price tag, the only reason i purchased one is because i had a voucher to go towards it. But the reviews and videos of this product spoke brilliantly so that's what helped me.
I would say if you want a decent cup of coffee with out a machine or your on the go, or in my case work doesn't provide nice coffee to drink, grab one you wont be disappointed

Really impressed!! As some other reviewers have pointed out it is quite expensive for what is essentially a well made 'vacuum mug' with a french press-like plunger. But it works...and it works really well!

I can't speak for tea drinkers (different species as far as I'm concerned)...but if you like a thick black espresso type coffee (obviously you can make it weaker if you like) that will stay hot for about 4 hours on the go...then this, I think it's worth it's money

I suspect the extra 'dollarage' goes on license costs and paying off the patent holders (think the double filter and locking mechanism are what makes this product unique). But hey...it's a good innovation. It's also much better than similar type offerings from other suppliers that I'm too polite to mention (if you're looking for this kind of device, I'm sure you know who they are).

Upshot...if you don't mind spending the money and you're serious about your coffee...then I'd say go for it!
