I also liked Okawa's writing on The Concept of the Void including The Concept of Reincarnation, The Discovery of the Spirit World, and the Transience of All Things." I also learned about aspects of the Eight Fold Path -- View, Thought, Speech, Action, Livelihood, Effort, Mindfulness and Concentration I had not previously discovered.
Chapter 1 teaches the path that Shakyamuni took to reach Enlightenment. After discovering the mistaken ways of the respected local religious leaders, Siddhartha developed his own way of meditation and living. After countless hours, he defeated the devil and attained enlightenment.
After this chapter, the remaining one's speak to the valuable teachings of Buddhism. It takes the reader through the Eightfold Path, the Six Paramitas, the Void, and the Law of Cause and Effect. These teachings add light to human life, making it shine brilliantly.
The final chapter delves into the deep Truth of the spirit world. It describes the purpose and meaning of our lives through eternal soul-training and reincarnation. It puts real numbers to the infinite path towards Buddhahood, as we rise through the dimensions. It is beyond this world.
After giving us a good background on the master, the author guides us through the Eightfold Path of dharma or "right action". This is an important and basic tenet of Buddhism and was explained in Buddha's first sermon after he obtained enlightenment.
The Six Paramitas (Perfections) are covered as well as the laws of karma (cause and effect), astral realms and entering of the Void ...the state of life after death and preparation for reincarnation and more.
This book is valuable as a guide to living consciously and fully. It doesn't attempt to convert you or "sell" you a certain dogma, instead it serves as a reminder that we are all connected deeply at Source.
This book is well suited for beginners in metaphysical studies and those new to Eastern Religion and Buddhism.
