The book is a result of the collaboration of a half dozen specialists. I found the Koi health section to be the best reference I have seen to date, and the section on Koi "Breeds" not only gave information about the different coloration's and breeds of Koi, but gave extensive information about the finer points of markings/patterns/colors for each of the different types of show quality koi and buying and showing them. Two thumbs up!!
This book starts with the basics and goes far beyond that. I learned something from each chapter.
Well worth reading no matter if you are just starting out or are an experienced koi keeper. I highly recommend it.
